Will do, I'm trying it with my PE and my Transki. I'm also trying 50/50 coir to BK. Just for experiment sake.

Tried out 5 tubs with a sw pe multi spore run to great success. I loved them. They worked great! Double cased with CV, 30% relative humidity, 70F
One quart!

Forgot to get a photo of this bin lol.

I'll get better photos on the next round.

Damn.. that’s an awesome culture of that one qt! Those things look solid af too.
Here’s the last PE 16qts for me this season. Hanging this culture up. It’s been a good one but me thinks it’s a little tired and ready

looks awesome faht, I realized I got a bunch of 16qt instead of 8qt for shoeboxes, so I'll be running some of the same boxes. Did you ever try the 1qt spawn:2qt coir recipe (or similar) for the 16qt tubs?

The smallest I did was 1.5qt spawn.. they’re the first two pics in that pic block. I got better results from 2 qts so I ran with those.

Alrighty! Got 2 bins about to pop… definitely should’ve went with another thin patch layer but this culture was untested and I didn’t think it’d take 25+ Days to start fruiting.. I think it’ll be fine though.. there’s a ton of knots just under the last thin patch layer.. it’s aight, now I know what to expect for later tubs.

I think this is going to be my workhorse culture.. the baggie I made from the glc grains that made ^^^those tubs is blowing my mind (4oz jar comparison for how much grain goes into the baggies).. I need a second baggie over the top because the fruits are pushing out the opening

Got 8 more tubs coming up behind these (staggered)… some more pec3.. ms, pec4, pec2 and a couple mixed tubs of pec2 & 4 (lol).
I really packed the cv in that baggie, so I’ll be doing like a 1:4 on future tubs.. my usual ratio is 1:2

Coming along nicely..
Pec3 (untested clone that was in stasis since last December)

Pec4 (tested and did great.. also was in stasis)

Just goes to show that sterile grain is sterile grain, friends

Tub 1 done.. love this culture. If the potency is there, it’s definitely a keeper

Nice chunky haul! What's the weight??
How much variance in PE potency have you experienced? I just ate some of my PE for the first time at a Phish show last week and got completely faced off like 1g lol. I'm hoping I didn't hit the genetic lottery and squander it by not taking any clones. Oh well, I've got ~15lbs of peatmoss left over from the landscaping season so I'll be making plenty of your casing recipe and running a lot of PE this off-season.

Most PE are 1-2g face melters.. I’m sure the potency will be plenty acceptable.. they got that look to em lol I’ll let You know the dry weight.. I don’t bother with wet.. I don’t weigh the water I give them.. I mist the casing daily, etc.
I saw em last week too.. Tuesday . I was on tamps and PE/apeu.
Horrible pic but I’m lucky I was able to even operate my phone at all lol

Sweeet harvest!
Nice to see you guys getting back to "normal" activities. Any advice you could share on using a PE swab? I really dont want to mess up.
I've read softer agar- pulling pieces off the swab and jamming it into agar etc. What do you do? Thanks in advance!

Pulling strands off seems to work for ppl. I make my swabs into spore solution. This is how I roll but if you don’t want to burn the whole swab, pull strands or use a nose hair trimming scissors to snip some fibers off.
Here’s some thoughts I’ve posted before about getting the spores dislodged from the swab tips
Quote:
Ive posted this before but if you have two of the same swab set I’ve always thought that if you put a drop of sterile water on one of the tips and then rub the two together, they’ll streak better because you dislodge them. You should still be able to use the second swab later even though you used it to rub against the other. I actually did a test on some white comp paper with a set of PE swabs doing just that and got a pretty noticeable streak:
Here is just rubbing the dry swabs together (obviously where the spores are and you’d do it over one agar plate) and flakes came off:

And here’s the streak after the drop was added and the swabs were again rubbed together.. it’s kinda hard to see but I started at the upper right hand corner and zig zagged to the bottom left hand corner:

I think the biggest thing is dislodging the spores from the swab fibers and rubbing them together definitely achieves that.
Who doesn’t love a good rub down? Obviously burying the tips in agar works but then you’re down a swab tip. Just some food for thought… and if you don’t have two swabs of the same set but have sterile swabs, you could just use a blank one to rub again aar the one you’re trying to streak. Hell, I might get into agar just so I can try this out lol

Damn you had great seats! I saw them Friday in Phoenix. The first set was a bit slow going but the second set absolutely ripped! My wife and I want to order the video of the show because there's no way that even Phish can do with a light show what we were seeing lol.

3rd tub done.. this is a different clone (pec4) than the first 2 (pec3)

2nd tub was 77.3g dry.. kinda thought it’d be heavier than #1 but I’ll take it. 2 ms tubs are starting to pin.. gonna grab a few more clones

After some shitty miracle grow peat, I switched to Hoffman Canadian organic and I’m back Bebe! Tubs 1-4 are clone pec4. Tub 1 of 14…

2 of 14 coming in hot..

3 of 14 is actually a p9 top layer tub that I only did 1.5” TL and it was starting to show signs of blob knots so I put a very thin casing layer just to cover the knots and now it’s pinning.. this guy is probably ~ 1:5 ratio with the TL.. there’s only 3” of headroom so I might have to dub tub it
