I come and go man, i didn't forget.

I'd run them since you have them, i'm just putting out there to try a different brand next time you purchase, it's not like it's a loss.

IDK what it's called but i got the round plastic one from walmart. Cheap and it's run non stop for couple years now.

Same like 30$ at Walmart haven’t had any issues with it.

My impatiens got the Best to me. I went on Amazon and spent $70 on a Cuisinart! Well at least I know I got a decent one. I was going to get a cheapie. But the two cheapies were either overhead driven and I want to the bottom feed , One of them didn’t have an on off switch it only ran by plugging it in, and the other one didn’t have a temperature gauge. Those are three options I’d like to have. Thank you for the reply. Who is this guy forum bombing my thread. I don’t remember putting that in my signature… Bombers welcome! LOL this is the second time it’s happened. Just kidding new Jack I’m a new Jack too... thanks for saying hello. However start your own thread and then I’ll come over and visit you.

Hey ernie, those oats look fine to me. I'm not sure if brand matters, the ones I use aren't a brand I've seen anybody post on their tek.

We get what's local generally, this stuff is from a farm down the road, ya know?

Sounds like you did good with the dehydrator. I'd like a bougie one with temp gauge and all, and I prob have the one you mentioned with no on/off, heh. It's a very inexpensive presto. Figured it matched my Pressure cooker. 99% certain it's the same one the last two fellas have as well.

Mushi, I'd be careful. Early pinning when the agar or the substrate isn't fully colonized is usually the culture trying to escape contamination.

I have the cheap presto that just plugs in.. no problems with it.. more options would be nice but it does the job just fine

No need to be so defeatist Ernie. Assume it worked until shown otherwise; trust the method.

Make your transfers and call it contam once you're certain that it is. Not a moment before.

All good stuff and very encouraging thank you. Of course I’m going to try the oats. Whatever happens happens and I’m not gonna blame it on the brand either.  Well I think I’m getting as much as I can out of my first flush. Nothing to write home about but I’m grateful saying it’s my first one and I did the best I could do with what I had and I learned a lot of stuff along the way. Thank you to all the people from day one who got me to this very spot. You all know who you are!!:thanx::hi::congrats::cheers:

Usually not. I just remember a brief period when several people had issues they weren't expecting and happen to be using that brand. People had all kinds of guesses why but no real conclusion. I think different brands have different standards and get from different sources. Sometimes things are off like gardening coir vs aquarium coir.

/e oh no, edit didn't show.
Good Job Ernie! Knew you could do it.

Thank you, thanx everyone. Some of you were there when I first started. Boy was I freaking mess! I was getting so frustrated and defeated before I even started. That’s just my personality. On my worst critic and I beat myself up if I can’t understand something. I literally had to take it one step at a time and then it all fell together. I look back  Edit all and I think to myself now what the hell was I complicating!?!?  This ain’t rocket science… It’s just science and I love science and I’m good at it.

I NEED TO HARVEST MOST OF THOSE TONIGHT.
My dehydrator won’t be here until tomorrow. What do I do with them in the mean time?
Suggestions?

Weigh out 35g wet and eat em. That will help you stop beating yourself up.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27074195

The rest will be fine until tomorrow. Cover them but not airtight. You can put them in the fridge like mushrooms from the store.

Lol hahahahahaaha! Apparently I got about 130 g wet from two shoeboxes but I still have some drawing that weren’t ready to be harvested yet.  So I guess that’ll be about a half an ounce dry. I did not take your advice however as I was picking and clipping and cleaning I was also snacking. I was a chef for the majority of my life and while I prep raw vegetables I always snack on little pieces so I was mindlessly  doing the same out of habit until I realized what I was snacking on! Lol. It was late so when I finished I went to bed until I was awoken by some strange dreaming. I made my way to the bathroom and when I put the light on it me why I was feeling so strange. Lol.

Thank you. If you remember I have one lonely cake that I stuck in a Tupperware bowl with a cover on it and poked holes in the bowl and then the cover and put it on the bed of perlite on top of an upside down lid. After over a week, nothing was happening so I removed the cover put a plastic bag over it should give it more of a dorm and more of a climate and air. A week later and still no pins but now it has white fuz on it. Here’s a picture because I cannot get it to pin if my life depended on any advice would be great. I’m ready to shred it and cover it with some core because frankly I’m sick of mistingit and fanning it with no results for at least 12 days.

It still smells like mycelium  and mushrooms. No stink whatsoever! Somethings Gotta give here

I'm not sure I can help with the cakes tbh.

They take a long time and I never know what to expect with them. Some people love em but they are more difficult than shoeboxes or monos to me.

It looks like that one isn't wet enough though. It should be basically dripping - "glistening with water" -  most of the time.

Actually it’s pretty freaking wet it’s just deceiving. The perlite is soaked with water if I turn it on inside it’ll drip out the holes poked. In the plastic bag I have over it is all Full of condensation. Man we’re talking like almost 2 weeks is thing is been in the bowl. Like I said I’m ready to break it up and put it in some coir.
