You said oats, which is difficult to work with. Rye, millet and wild bird seed seem to be easier with better overall results.
How long are you pc'ing your jars?
I bring them to a boil, then set a 30 minute timer. I check if they are fully hydrated by cutting one in two with scissors and look if there is a white spot inside the oats center. If not I consider them fully hydrated. Then I put then in the strainer and let them sit for a while (30-45 minutes), fill in bags, seal, PC (tried up to 5 hours @ 15 PSI).
I have a some suspicions where the green can enter the game. I might have my bags partially out of the laminar flow when opening and inoculating them (my flow hood has a 24" x 24" HEPA filter), I could try lowering them by removing the rack that I use to elevate stuff in front of the flow hood, that would bring them down about 10cm / 4" down.
My agar work is clean so far, once I have enough inoculant (either LC or cake sub for PF slurry) which would be in 1-2 weeks, I'll try the thing above.
My current procedure is:
- put spores on agar - poke to PF sub - then slurry that and use it as inoculant (- parallel to that I leave as much jars as I can on their own, so they start fruiting and I'm able to grab clean in vitro pins, that's where I start next) - after that I bucket tek the coir, let it cool down, mix with spawn and add a pseudo casing layer - then I leave the unmodded tubs alone with 12/12 light cycle on - as soon as there are hyphal knots i elevate the lid a bit with some cardboard pieces to increase the FAE (flipping doesn't work well with my tubs, too large gap, they dry out fast. I've made that mistake in my first tub grow in 2018 with a very slow culture. AA+, took 5-6 weeks in bottles or monotubs to fruit and it all dried out and matted the surface) - now I have them in fruiting conditions and pinning and I'm waiting to see how it goes further...

Count yourself lucky it's not millet. You would be picking that shit out from between your toes for the next 5 years.

true, I haven't had that happen yet but I have had the cat break a fully colonized jar waiting to be spawned. I was moving it to the harvesting station when I dropped it so you're right that it was about done

Don’t check on your grain jars when wearing a “safety yellow/green” shirt.....can give you a bit of a heart attack at first glance!

Dropped an agar wedge on the floor of my SAB during A2G. Put it in the jar anyway.

I've just opened two uninoculated bags, one smelled funky after sitting around a week or so. So sterilization and/or bad grains (endospores?) seem to be part of my problem. I'm trying millet next to see if there is a difference.
Besides that, I've found a Rusty Whyte PF puck. That's going to be slurried into four Bosley Bags, lets see how that works out...

Lol perfect shot. That’s a big bag too.
Not really a fail...yet, but I tried putting a bag in the middle of the jars in my presto. You can see where it expanded through the lid under it and then two smaller bubbles where it kept expanding into the trivet holes.

Just knocked it up so we’ll see if it’s airtight.
If it is there’s gonna be a whole lotta Melmak coming up.

Thats awesome. Imagine that internal pressure to press it down like that.
I had a good fight with my presto today, Old ass gasket and pressure plug, It just kept leaking. But my AA is too heavy for the stovetop and the cadco broke. Waiting on parts thinking, were did I go wrong this month.

I lolled
I wish I even had fighting spirit but im I'm a whimp. I have two Preston's with those same issues and I often end up steam sterilizing my cakes even tho I initially planned on Pc'ing them. Sometimes I don't even try I just try to pretend that I actually wanted to steam sterilize the cakes. I will plead with them occasionally tho but Im not fighting those veterans I have no chance lol

Don't mean to laugh at a loss but I can relate and can picture what your face looked like when you realized you perfectly murdered that bag.
It must be the year of leaky PC's because both of mine are being cry babies too. Going to order some new rubbbaaaa

I've learned lots of lessons form fucking shit up.. my last was doing BRF Cakes and sipping the dry verm layer since I just micropore taped the holes...but I packed them too tight and they expanded in the PC and flowed out of the lids holes it was a fck mess...and taught me a lesson...

Figured out my fail with the charcoal agar plates.

These black plates wouldn't do much of anything. Last night I was cleaning out the holy grails for a new batch of plates. They were super hard. Not dry, but very firm. I clearly added agar, then used more agar instead of lme. No nutes, double agar. That will do it folks.

I just did the opposite and forgot the agar. At least I didn’t pour the whole sleeve. I could tell from the viscosity something was wrong
