Question: how many 1/2 pint jars can I inoculate with one standard spore syringe?
I ordered two B+ spore syringes back in December and complete my first grow at the end of January. I used one syringe to inoculate 5 jars and got some feedback that I used too much.
For my next batch, I would like inoculate 8-10 jars. If I do 10 jars will I be using too little?

You really can’t use too little.
I think you actually have a better chance at clean myc using as little as possible.

It's not wrong, it's just outdated because we realized that having the colonization and fruiting conditions different didn't affect yield or speed by any measurable amount. So it's just adding steps for no real reason.

I use around 0.8ml per jar, 0.2ml in each hole.

Getting a silicone tile mallet was a serious game changer for whacking jars. As if it was made to pound aggressively on silicon based hard things without breaking them.

Yeah I know all that. I'm just trying to save anything I can for the 2nd flush. Got a good 4oz dry off the 1st flush its not a wasted tub at least. Its looking like 50% of the sub is gonna fruit again! If I can stop the green mold from shooting spores out and still get another OZ off the thing I'm happy. Fuck just throwing it out when I can see hundreds of healthy pins fighting the good fight! Can't give up on the little dudes!

don't be greedy. you got a great first flush. toss that shit and stop wasting your time thinking you can combat trich.

lol that sounds awesome. This last batch of Kerr jars I got are total garbage though they definitely couldn’t take it. I broke two shaking them last round so this morning I paid attention as I took each jar out of the pc and I can 100% accurately tell which ones are the new ones by feel.
The ball ive been using for a year I’d definitely hit with a mallet.

Ain't been around much, busy busy busy. Testing out this culture I've been working on agar. Not only does it colonize a 8oz pp5 nice and speedy so it can fruit but it also likes to fruit in clusters.
Also, look in the bottom pp5. It's starting a second flush, new pins are forming after the initial fruit(s) matured, dropped spore and began to degrade. Just on half-strength MEA.

No air for Cubes is pretty viable. Especially for tiny subs/jars. But it slows down colonization in my experience, but some genetics also seem to tolerate no Fae jars very well.

If yer talkin to me about the no FAE and air thing in regards to these agar pp5s, they're not being grown out for harvesting they're just plates I grew out to see if the culture was clean. Just admiring the strong fructification.
If you're not talking to me then ok.

At this point I don't know If I should be happy or very sad. I mean this is a crazy amount of shrooms/pins, especially in relation to my further grows. Top-Pinset is also not that bad, but that crazy Side-pin Pinset in those two MonoTubs is an insane success for me - Even if it would be way better if they are all on top. Should a double-liner just fix this problem or is there something else obvious I could change? My coming grows all have a double-liner, we will see what happens there, the first tub of the liner-box started to pin today
What do you guys think about cloning a crazy Sidepin-cluster? There are some crazy clusters which are made out of way more mushrooms as the clusters on top. But is there an disavantage to clone them? Like I get in future-grows just side-pinning like hell because these cloned genetics prefere "sidepin-climate" ?
The best way to combat side pinning is packing your substrate tighter around the edges. When the edges are loose it allows there to be a gap once your substrate is colonized and creates a micro climate in that gap. “Tamp down the edges” is what they say.

Is it typical for manure to smell kinda fishy after pasteurization? 4 days into colonization now and it gives off an earthy/mixed with a fishy smell scent. Before pasteurizing it, it had a sweet earthy smell, really pleasant to smell.
It's not an "offensive" smell as it is, it just smells kinda "sour". Typical or nah?
edit: its mixed with straw
