Excuse the question (dumb questions > dumb mistakes)
- Soak for 6-12 hours.
- Drain for 20 odd mins.
- Load into jars.
- PC @ 15psi for 2 hours.
That looks right, right?

That will definitely work. I'd soak longer than 6 though. I've only done 6 hour soaks a few times so I'd stick to 12-24.

Got two jars of hamloaf's milo going which is looking alright... for now!

I'll put my millet in the bucket to soak sometime around 4-5 pm and then come back to drain it around 11 am or so, so usually about 18 hours. Drain a bit, load jars or bags, run my cycle and then inoculate the following day.
I'm not usually in a huge rush.

I don't run that much volume so I soak.
Also to be clear, this isn't my tek or intellectual property. People have been prepping grains this way and in the way mentioned above long before I ever started cultivation.
I'm not even the first to write it down.
But I am glad you did.
And, at my scale, the method I slightly adapted from you is perfect for readying jars of grain.
I also contentedly* admit, as a noob, to suffering from the "rewards" of imperfect technique; I therefore quarantine jars, in fact I have yet to spawn more than two quarts to a bin. My first millet attempt was also my first LC attempt and I learned to wait for the fucking flow hood and was reminded why we change one variable at a time:
* but not without the goal of perfection
noxious indeed, but which noxious? I assume contaminated LC or sterile technique failure during the pour.

I soak WBS (mostly millet) for 12 hours and dry for 24… if I soak longer than 12 it starts to stink and too many grains germinate

That looks like p9's writeup.
i soak from morning till evening and hung the millet in the shower to drain overnight, p9 said cool. PC vent 15 minutes, run 2h15m at 16-18 psi. The millet still looks good 2 weeks later. noccing later today.

I have no issues with this, this will happen after 24 hours with my millet. All pictures of my spawn in the OP have been soaked for roughly 18 hours.
Adjust variables to suit your own materials and conditions, as with anything in mush cult. Recipes and procedures are rarely one size fits all across the board.

Nope, it looks like a perfectly normal/ordinary hydrated grain.

I usually do about 2,200 - 2,400g dry oats to prep 10 jars would this measurement change for millet? I read your wet measurements for jars/bags but didn't see the dry measurements pre soak Got some Japanese millet today even though I asked for the browntop lol the japanese was like $10 more so I aint complaining

I use 16 cups dry millet to get 7 master jars, with about half a jar left in the bag. I don't usually run my presto anymore, 7 masters are usually enough for me atm.
I used to do 2 x 5 gal buckets to get 9 4lb bags and 10 master jars. With a bit left over. Not super helpful, I know ow, but I never payed too close attention to that.

Window screen works well, I used it for a long time before I switched to brewers bags:

That's a steaming pile of wheat, but you get the idea.
With millet I have a bucket that's perforated with holes, then lined with a brewers bag. I pour into that to drain and then hang the bag over the side of that sink to drain. Gather up the edges of the screen if you want a nice big pouch to drain from.

I soaked 30 cups of white millet for about 15 hours. I use a paint strainer to keep it together. just tosed it in the sink overnight to drain. though i’d get 10 jars. got 14 so i rain the extra 4 with 200 ml distilled h2o in a media jar and a tall 1/2 pt distilled with an lc cap.
leaving town for a week. feel like i’m leaving my kids.

What a great write up. I think I’ve identified several flaws in my grain prep performed on my current round of jars. I have Tractor Supply oats that were super dirty I think I rinsed them 6-7 times to get mostly clear water back. I then let them soak overnight and did a 10 min boil ala RR rye tek from LGM. I didn’t factor in that oats might be more difficult to hydrate than rye. I didn’t know to cut the kernels and ensure they were fully hydrated. This seems super straight forward so I’m going to try white proso millet prepared with this tek for the next round. I’ll eventually try smarts dish soap method for these oats and rye though! Would the following seed work well? Or any other brands from Amazon? I’ll look for locally sourced seeds if this works out but would love the convenience of Amazon for this batch. Any guidance would be helpful. Thanks again for another great write up p9! I’m learning so much from them and the following discussions.

That's expensive, I pay $30 for 50lbs and that's still expensive. Thise are what you're looking for though.
No need to soak your grains before you boil them, just rinse them clean and then boil.

Cameron was very pleasant. The shipping was almost double the cost of the seed.
