Bet it's not as dirty as my 50lb bag of oats. Fucking disgusting it's like they swept the barn floor and just put all the dust and debris in the bag w the oats. I keep finding weird dead bugs and other types of grains and corn kernels in it too. Some of my jars have ended up accidentally being multigrain with a touch of straw jars xD
i notice bod dumps just a bit of diatamaceous whatever in. it's a link in his EAF bit.
The fucking $2/lb millet was clean. This is outta farm country...Platte SD. Gonna make up 3200 ml agar first and start a new millet soak tomorrow or the next day,

It is a bit more expensive, I lay 30$/50lb bag and I just picked up 200lbs.
27.50 for millet 46.50 for shipping

I should take a pic of my oats from the bag. Though it's not really fair as they are locally sourced organic oats that you won't find at tractor supply. Still cheap af though.

I have the same issue with expensive millet in my area. Try looking for milo (sorghum). Larger, but very similar to millet.

AH

Can I do the same p9 millet tek with it? I have, still, nearly 25-pounds of oats. totallyn fucking hate the prep. end up with fucking oats all over the place because I an still trying to dry it properly but itj just goes everywhere...it really requires a better strainer rig. Millet I just dump in a 5-gal food-safe bucket inside a fine paint-strainer, pull it and hang it overnight with a Keep-That-Fucking -Clampp-Away-From-My-Fingerss clamp.
I just took delivery yesterday of the 50-pounds of millet: 50 jars, approximately. Gonna run 10 jars later todayn or tomorrow.
RN prepping 3200 ml agar. In fact I was going to drown myself in an attempt at the Fucking SE Hates Me, to see if there is Knowledge about using [manuka] honey as an anti-microbial nute, since it is approved by the FDA for wound dressing.

Just use the same LME that you use for agar. There's no antimicrobial fix for improper sterile technique.
Yeah just soak the milo.

Have you tried soaking millet with the proper amount of water in each bag over night then cooking next day without draining and bagging? Currently using this technique for wheat, have heard more about millet recently and am considering trying millet with the no drain method. for example: doing 7 cups of dry wheat and 1250 ml of water results in roughly 60% hydrated wheat.

I use the prep you are suggesting with good results, I find I make less mess this way by cutting out the straining step. I use 1500ml millet and add 900ml of water. I let them sit in the bags overnight (approx 12hrs) and they soak all the water up and can be folded easily for the pc.

i like measuring out the millet per jar and dumping it in my paint-strainer that fits the 5-gal bucket. when it is done soaking i just lift the paint strainer out and hang it from the grab bar in the shower. that way, in addition to easy, i get grain soak water, still neatly in the bucket. i use food safe.

I appreciate this, but at a larger scale this would be more work than just loading into bags with x grain and y water.

Yeah for sure. I'm pretty sure that's common practice with large volume edible farms.
I don't run that much volume so I soak.
Also to be clear, this isn't my tek or intellectual property. People have been prepping grains this way and in the way mentioned above long before I ever started cultivation.
I'm not even the first to write it down.
