When I was testing.... there was very little additional water uptake after 12 hours... I think 20 hours had 3% more water than 12 hours, which is more water, but barely. I do 12.

The millet in the jar on the left was soaked for 16 hours. Drained for 30 minutes. The millet in the jar on the right was prepared by bringing water to a boil, removing from heat, adding millet and sat for about 20 minutes. Grain was washed before hand and both jars were pc’d for 2 hours.
The grains in the jar on the left are much dryer than the one on the right. I am trying to figure out if one is overcooked or is one undercooked.

Just give it a shake, will be fine. Loading wet is key with soaked millet, the surface moisture helps hydrate during the cycle.

the soaked millet expands quite a bit during sterilization. An expansion that has already happened with the heat hydrated second jar.
Weigh the dry grains and the final hydration carefully, that's the real numbers you are after.

imo the above quote should be part of the original tek, clams down a lot of people's OCD. loading wet grain is like having ptsd flash backs of bacterial infection from having too wet grain.
i got a new grain dealer, don't know whats the deal with millet and fooman's tek is not working on it too many burst grain,
and mushyboy say'"you cannot even pay him to heat prep millet=no heat prep"
i am gona give this tek a shot, and maybe not get wet spots
is air humidity a factor when it comes to drain for 20 minutes?
winter is coming on my side of the planet and humidity is like 70% to 80% all the time.
should i drain for longer?

It is part of the op. Don't worry about humidity.
Quote:
Note:
The reason that millet (WBS, etc) can be loaded wet is because they're small, hard seeds, any excess surface moisture is going to be absorbed either during the cycle or within the first few days after inoculation; Seeds haven't had water already boiled into them in the same way that larger grains like wheat, rye, or oats do, This will happen in the pressure cooker.
Don't be concerned if your seed comes out of the PC damp, your jars/bags will sort themselves out by absorbing the excess moisture. Jars soak up moisture in a few days, bags are gtg after a good shake;

thanx and make a lot more sense.
i was about to buy oats but i am keen on getting out of boil teks, plus like your tek states bigger grain requires a lot more energy to prep.
