I had some really good success blending amaranth and farrow/ amaranth and red wheat...
Just curious if anyone else out here has any more experience with particularly amaranth in terms of how quickly it helps mycelium spread through grain.
For me it was only slightly faster, mostly imperceptible, however the mushrooms them selves were considerably more dense and hardy and pungent.

p9 I would like to apologize as it seems I accidentally turned this thread into 'general and/or off topic discussion' by asking a question about the TEK. I can't help but feel like if I would have just not asked my questions this thread would have remained hidden and and on topic

No problemo, brotha. All questins are welcome so long as they're not too combative, lol.

It’s important to not be too combative on tek threads unless you’re very confident and have a lot of experience. I’ve seen people try and trash teks on the first page that later became a gold standard used by many people. Those individuals just look cringe now. It’s hard to see all outcomes.

This is a couple days after running this tek. Teh millet is slowly absorbing the excess moisture.

You know that makes a lot of sense and I for one am taking that advice to heart because if you start disagreeing with peoples teks thats just your opinion and there are way more then one way to skin a cat with many of those ways valid for different people and different set ups!!

Teks should be tested and verified by the author before publishing. The tek should produce results for the author and for those employing the tek, results are king.
If a noob posts some untested voodoo based upon some imperfect understanding of cult, well, the sharks are always circling the forum looking for fresh blood and one should expect a sound thrashing.
Teks that produce results however, well, results are results. Some folks seem to thrive off of endless arguing.
Cultivation has come a long way, it can be tailored to just about every taste these days.

So I am going to official stop recommending oat to people! I just got off the phone with my old business partner who berated me for a half hour for using oat?
The funny thing is I know its clean because I check my mother bags on agar? When I first started using oat I thought it was bacterial as well but I checked on agar and it was fine.
In fact the reason I immediately opened and checked a bag of millet was because I saw this behavior...

I checked it and there were three kinds of contamination present (or just different formations of the same ones)? Now maybe some how I am getting extraordinary lucky? I do not know except that I never get contamination on any of my tubs for two flushes and I then toss the tubs but there usually still looking great?
I do believe the oat just looks more dense due to higher amounts of moisture available in each grain rather then spread out more on the surface with naked grains not sure just know that I currently run six 27 gallon monotubs in perpetuity with near zero cotamination whether its present for certain cant say just that the levels are not enough to create issues for me?
That said I no longer feel I can recommend it because you guys I have great respect for and also my partner is an actual bio engineer who studied fungi, lichens, molds, and mildews extensively!
I have more failure with millet although maybe one out of every 50 bags so not an issue either way but...
Either way I will stop advocating oats because enough people have issues that it could be my supplier has extra clean oat or maybe my grows are so on point that the mycelium can handle it for two flushes but doesnt explain my agar?
I am going to open all my bags tomorrow and do some serious agar testing to get to the bottom of this though!

Also what should I use I really really like oat for the cost to be honest really I already said I do believe millet is superior although I will say the oats faster and I seemly get consistent better results although im probably kidding myself to mentally justify my cheapness? Ill admit it probably all that is hopeful wishing?
I just need to use millet I guess for my videos because apparently oat is no good for most people and its unscientifically sound as well?
I knew all that going in but I watched people I trust use oat and then I got good results for now 18 months of using it?

I'd start with your LC, anytime someone is having issue with their spawn while using liquids it's almost always the liquids to blame.
Oats work, if they didn't then nobody would use them. The source and quality matters, but I clearly think that there are better options. If you can make them perform regularly then do whatever makes you the happiest, follow the results.

Well I mean one out of every 50 is totally fine for spawn but i'll through some on agar because I do not like the anxiety of unkowns. I just found a millet supplier two states away that can do me .36 a pound and if I bring a truck im thinking I could grab 500 pounds and be done with it?
Kind of crazy to be cheap and knowingly utilize a scientifically unsound material?
