i had jars that stalled because of dryness so i poured like 30-40ml of LC. went from 30% to 100 in like 5 days lol.
the ones that stalled were from wedge only jars. when i used blended LI, everything was fine. the extra water was key.

Do you think less dry time than 20 minutes would mess things up?
I'm guessing it would be ok.

I'm pretty sure I've loaded them as soon as the excess water stopped dripping off of the bag.

Thanks p9! Really good to see your ban lifted!
Thanks for all the videos too!
I caught a bunch of important details from them by watching them over and over again!

Does a couple of uncolonized millet grains stuck in between the threads of the ball lids and glass compromise the spawn/grow?
Thanks in advance!

Just shake them off elsewhere rather than into your tub. Like any grain really.

Thanks for the confirmation Smartz!
That makes sense. These little millet grains get all over the place. It wouldn't surprise me if a couple escaped into the sub lol
I'll pay extra attention when spawning. Appreciate it!

the worst is when they get stuck in your GE holes. i also always forget to give it a good smack before i do transfers so when i open it up sometimes the millet gets in the way of the lid from closing so i have to try and move the grains off the lip of the lid. gives me shivers. other than that millet is bomb.

Prepped some millet with a 18 hour soak and 10 minute dry.
Only noticable difference is some very slight pooling.

I've inoculated them so I'll let you guys know how they run.

The slight pooling on the jar above is no longer there as stated in this grain prep tek.
The jars that I dried a bit too long (30 min) looks like this 12 days later. One with a shake and one left alone.

Thanks p9 and Shroomery.

How long after full colonization do you add it to substrate? I've got a couple jars fully colonized and the rest are very close. Great thread, thanks you for the info!

Spawn at full colonization, once colonized they can sit and consolidate while the others catch up.

I'm thinking about doing some muda bottles and wondering if I could prep my millet this way and then add to my coir verm that is already at field capacity and any other nutes that I usually use (dog food, gypsum, bran etc).
Anyone use millet for mudas bottle Tek?
Thanks in advance! I'm excited to get back into some grows this winter.

Is red wheat good for our hobby. I found some at a fair price at a feed store.

Yes that should work just fine.

I've not used it but any cereal grain should work great.

Thanks for the help on the red wheat p9.
I guess if I need to ask this is mold in my jar. Just would appreciate a second opinion.
Thanks in advance!

Looks like mold. That's that looks like the bottom of the jar, which I assume you shook after inoculation?

Thanks a lot p9. I haven't shaken the jar yet .Somehow I gently rolled the wedge on the bottom which you know isn't easy with millet lol!
Here's a few more photos of suspected mold towards the bottom of the jar.
awww shucks it is mold.

Thanks again!
