TSLA put less than 8% of its cash reserves into bitcoin. It seems smart. I don't personally like holding dollars. The dollar supply is recklessly inflated time and time again. There's a reason the value of my house has more than doubled since I bought it, and it isn't because it got any prettier, the dollar just got uglier. Frankly, I have learned in my time, if not to ignore news, at least not to pay too much mind to it. It can be so sensational and built upon minimal evidence that it often equates to little more than noise to confuse you. Mind you, I do read a lot of news, but not while I'm trading. And I definitely cut the cable long ago, the talking heads are the absolute worst.
The price action is relevant, it is the crowdsourced consciousness of truth. That's my primary metric. And for now, the movement in an instrument such as ETH or BTC is not what I could honestly call "heading south". There are dips, some of them more violent than others, but the trend is clearly intact, and momentum has been building for some time. In these scenarios, it's best not to overthink it. The trend is your friend.

It seems like every few day there's another sign that crypto is entering the mainstream financial system.

I agree 100% with geo, just zoom out and ride the big wave instead of getting caught by small ripples.

MIOTA is doin things. It and OMG are my last two large investments from 2019. When you span out to the last giant bubble it makes one wonder if now is selling too soon. Just putting them in an exchange and will take my time from there.

Also have been listening to podcasts and reading up on LLC custodians of IRAs for crypto investing, it still doesn’t make complete sense, but for tax purposes I am thinking I should be trading crypto in a Roth account. Will continue to update as I grasp more of the concept.

Oh, I agree, especially with the part about inflation. I'm 68. I lived through a period of fiscal irresponsibility and consequent inflation, and remember it well. The prospect of history repeating itself ($1.9 Trillion dollars worth - and likely more) is what finally drove me to learn about cryptocurrency and begin to trade/accumulate it.
Every afternoon for the past 2 months I've spent two hours NOT watching TV (until Jeopardy comes on) and then an additional two hours until I go to bed learning all I could with respect to the foreign concepts of blockchain, BTC, chart analysis and the various "altcoins." I soon came to realize you don't need to know how a car works to drive, and shifted focus to spotting trends (because as you say, the trend is your friend). Trading and buying decisions are just a market-based decision after all.
So, my new goal is to accumulate and HOLD BTC and or ETH and leave UNTOUCHED such BTC and altcoin value as I can with funds CREATED by trading - to keep the interest. Could I just buy and hold...sure, I guess so. But my back-of-the-envelop calculations show I'm doing better entering and leaving by identifying trends than simply holding. The difference is not great - but it is definitely there. The coin I've decided to "park" with gains is BTC for obvious reason. Hopefully gains on top of gains.
FWIW, it looks as if ETH has picked a direction (slowly up).

POLS to all time highs this morning (not to mention BTC tagging a fresh ATH as well, although no follow through as of yet). I never did get the opportunity to add to the POLS position, because it never really pulled back, but that's OK, I have a meaningful chunk for a relatively early phase coin. The best issues tend to be the hardest to buy.

GRT now on a +80% today, tempted to cash some out now. My strategy is to just buy and hold though, and it's only gonna get higher in the long term. I've barely paid attention to XLM, which is doing pretty well today too, for XLM at least

I'm not selling any of my top 3 just looking for action on the alts. Could've taken a 30% gain on BAND in 24 hrs but holding out for my commitment of $19.98. Might take a week or two but it will get there.
Life is good. I'm in Punta Cana and watched my portfolio cross 5 figures almost doing nothing.

Nice! Do you live there or just extended vacation? My portfolio manager told me that once I move to Costa Rica they may not be able to be my investment strategists anymore. Some stupid federal law... They make me a boat load of money and there's no way I'm going to find anyone else with the performance and sympatico I have with them.
I'm up $6035.78 trading crypto (mostly ETH)in the month of January - basically averaging $550/day with only half of my (now) $25,000 stake invested and half waiting on the sidelines.

Up $912 (unrealized) dollars on the day. Bought my first BTC this morning. Probably paid too much (47K) but I'm REALLY late to that party.
Going to be fully funded to a total of $25,000 "play money" by tomorrow and will try to figure out where my best leverage is after that. Have to wait for the transfer of funds to complete before I can invest.
Have a limit order for 300 LINK in at 27.32, but I doubt it's going to drop the .2 that I need it to...but ya never know what might happen overnight. That way I'll have a piece of the "big three" - BTC, ETH and LINK to which I can add on dips and from which I can take profits in a cyclic fashion. New York is such a shitty jurisdiction for crypto trading. So few options.

Holy shit, I managed to pick up the shares of LINK on a dip that triggered my limit order before bed. Cool!
