I'm not sure how tight the seal needs to be, but it should be fine. Contams can't get upwards and in through the lip of the lid without a vector like water or dirt, or maybe being sucked in if the pot is squeezed. I have learned through experience that tipping those pots upside down gets moisture (from the condensation) in round the rim, and that can then pull contams inside when you turn it upright again. Well, I think that's what happened mine.
Apparently if you use the same lid for the same pot in every PC cycle, they will stay in better shape.
ETA: when using new pots before the first PC, maybe give each pot and lid its own number with a Sharpie pen. Once it's PCd the pen mark is permanent so youll always know which lid goes on which pot. The lids should continue to fit snugly.

3 options after sterilising and inoculating.
1. do nothing and you will probalbly be ok 2. wrap in cling film around the rim 3. tape up with micropore tape.
To be honest when working with agar, success rate will determine how many extras you add and trust me when it goes wrong you will add things like standing on one leg in your pants with a shower cap on........ This hobby can be cruel

I'd also like to know the answer to this. Been using old gherkin jars and the insides are getting pretty rusty. Have also had some bacterial issues so I'm wondering if the two are connected...

Noob here. Just ordered this millet as I'm gonna start off with G2G for expansion and then maybe move onto GLC/LI/LC. Anyone got any feedback on this deal? Does this millet look legit?

Hasn't got any bad reviews. I'd go for it - couldn't find it any cheaper after shipping.

I've used a couple of these blocks so far and they've seemed to be fine.

I've been using natures footprint for 4yrs without issue. Blocks are totally irregular in weight, but the pack weight is correct. I've had one sprout from it in that time too

@Ed, have you tried saving some prepped coir to find out if it gets moldy without spawning? If it contaminates It could be that your coir is fucked (But it's very low probability). I sometimes have random seeds in the coir sprouting and I think if you cook those seeds, it contaminates easier. I never bother pasteurising, only add some water, mix and spawn.
Look at this dude chilling here

Can someone link exactly which grains they use successfully and the tek they use?
I'm getting pissed off with my spawn being sub standard and don't think it's my SAB Tek when inoculating.
