who here has read or enjoys the works of Michel Foucault?

particularily anything related to his ideas on the relationship between power and knowledge.

"Foucault does not see power as formal, but as the various methods that ingrain themselves by way of social institutions and the positing of a form of truth."

I read 'Surveiller et punir', about the history of punishment and the prison system. Very interesting indeed, although not easy to read. He's the kind of guy who writes sentences you have to read more than once sometimes to get the point.

I didn't read his work about the history of madness, but I like the way he treats the subject, sanity being just the majority's madness, the madness of the powerful.

BTW, did you know he was introduced to LSD toward the end of his life, and that this experience completely changed his whole outlook on things? It seems it influenced his late work quite a bit, although I don't remember the details.
