WBS as substrate?
    #2719088 - 05/23/04 06:11 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

i have jars of fully colonised WBS, has anyone had success taking the colonised WBS cakes out of jars and putting them directly in a terrarium to pin? is it even possible to pin off of wild bird seed?

It might hold together if there is strong rizo mycelium growth but I doubt it will hold moisture long enough to fruit. If you are trying to make PF cakes you should have ground up the WBS into flour and added that in place of BRF in the PF tek recipe. Best bet is to case them now.

Definately case those. I've done WBS before and what I had left over from casing, I managed to make into a cake (more like a rock shaped clump) which didn't really yield much at all. Just throw them in a casing container, top with verm or whatever you've got for casing, let them incubate a little bit longer, give a little patching if necessary and fruit them.
