I am doing my 2nd grow. Using all the same techniques. This time though I used rye and wheat as that's what was available. In my jars they look great! After moving them to grain bags (In my very clean glove box) This started happening to the bags. Is this trich? Or some other bad thing? I have been racking my brain over this. Please help. Also if there is a chance it's not trich or something bad. What could it be? They are ready to go in tubs now. Any advice would be great!!

Yeah that's mold. Sorry. The jar looked bacterial actually. See the wet looking grains pressed against the glass and the uneven colonization?

I’m so stoked I finally started tossing crap grain jars and only spawning clean jars.
Because pins.

I've already shook these twice early, shall I shake again now?

Those look good. Just leave them be. Slow stuff can surprise you later.

So what's the problem with shaking a third time? Those jars will def finish up faster after a shake.

It just looks close, and he already said it's slow. Don't get me wrong I'm not afraid of shakes. I would just personally leave it. I do have the benefit of 100 other quarts to worry about so I forget what it's like to be in a hurry.

I would shake that. The un-colonized patch is quite large and the rest of the mycelium has filled in. Shake it up and spread the love

If it is your only jar than don't shake it. I agree with Smart. IF you are managing several jars and tubs or shoeboxes, just let it be.

I shook them and they are quite solid. I hate grains/seeds, how hard can it be to prep grain ffs!

I'm a huge fan of no prep millet. 250g millet/135g water (less if inoculating with LC/LI), and PC those bitches. Works great

Yeah I was going that route til P9 let me know how he did it. Seems alot of people have good success with no prep millet, I'll try it. At least it's less effort if my grains don't turn out great.

Solid myc in jars is usually a sign of bacteria

Wbs and millet can get pretty chunky even with healthy myc. I bet if you let that jar sit for another ten days you’d have to spoon it out.

has anyone else found micropore tape sucks ass for grain jars? used 2 strips of it and when they came out of the pc my grains were soaked / the tape was soaked. i had foil on pretty snug, it didn't reach down to water and make a straw or anything weird. can go back to polyfill but happen to have like 120 yards of micropore tape lmao so any advice on how to stop that from happening?

I use micropore tape to seal my bags after inoculation. I stopped using them for GE covers and switched to SFD Stickies. You can get 120 on the Zon pretty cheep.
