This thread could (and likely will) go on for years. However I feel it is already complete enough that most people should be able to learn most of what is needed from what is already here. Or should at least give themselves a very good indication where their spawn stands.

lol hence “one of my better bad ones”.
Does look like it’ll finish colonizing though.
This is for sure gonna be an ongoing spawn check thread which I think we need anyway. I definitely could’ve used one for a long time.

I have an affinity with the Dark Lord. We both switched from wheat to millet to make prep easier. He lead the way. I'm having such good luck with the switch. Excited to have him back.

Without P9's influence bad jars are being spawned all over the land. We need you back.
On topic. My millet jars are extremely slow! Maybe due to 2 early shakes.

My millet is 40% slower than my wheat. I'm considering changing from LME agar to something different. I'm not sure if thats a big deal tho. I imagine its a bit subtle. Maybe millet flour? I have access to that.

Could be it’s too dry, millet is weird.
Plus there’s way more of it in the same size jar. It pays off when you spawn though.

Not sure if it's been asked already, but what causes the stressed/spikey mycellium? Is it bacterial or the result of something else like shaking too vigarously/often? I got a few jars that have the spikes in em.

Healthy myc can certainly do that IMO. But yeah, you can often see mycelium doing weird things to get away from bacteria, often in a very logical fashion. Unfortunately there is nowhere to run in a jar.

The bacterial whole oats shoeboxes I spawned that I added a top layer on all threw out like 1 or 2 big fruits each for first flush lol. I see lots of knots forming but these guys were fully grown before there were any other pins. I can't imagine it's conditions, my coir was field capacity and surfaces were relatively flat. Also the ones I didn't top layer fruited all over at the same time (same bad spawn).

I like how it's looking so far. They're asking for a shake though.
