Very nice grows and pictures! I can't wait to get some traditional PE genetics again from your giveaway!
The PE I've been growing this last year mostly doesn't look like PE at all.

Great write up, I'll have to give the 16qts a whirl next time I wander over to target, I usually use the 6qt
Any benefit to using jiffy mix over your normal sub recipe? Has anyone tried just using plain coir for a casing? I haven't experimented much with casings and my PE is a bit strange anyway but the extra water from the casings will probably help fill out the flushes either way.

Oh yeah.. lots of ppl have tried.. me included.. for whatever reason, jiffy (or your own 50/50 mix of verm and peat that’s ph adjusted) makes PE fruit normally. Has to be thick though.. follow teds write up. You might get lucky and get a culture that fruits ok with just bulk mix but it’s a gamble.

Couple clone test tubs.. first time doing my own peat/verm mix instead of using jiffy mix. I think they’re going to be nice.

It’ll be interesting how the end weight compares between these two. Ones got the numbers the others got some jumbos

Clone tub 1 first half

That handful dried down to 33.4gms
Second half is coming in

Clone tub 2

Cracked the lids on the tubs and I’ll probably pick em tomorrow.. I’ve set a 2.5oz benchmark for keeping the cultures. (After a potency test—if they’re ridiculously potent then I’ll prob keep em no matter what based on their eyeballed performance)

Found those tubs at Kroger on sale, just don't come to my Kroger I'm gonna buy'em out. I'm gonna run these for my PE and my other grows as well. I like the idea of less headroom, been using 66qt for my PE. Can't wait to post some results

Why do you like the idea of less headroom? I've got some PE (and several other cultures) ready for grain and have a variety of tub sizes. If one is better than the other I'm all ears

I feel like sometimes all that extra room is just more space to keep the conditions right and a smaller area would be simpler. I've gotten great PE grows in my mono's though like this one in a 66qt. But all that unnecessary headroom.

Nice tub crack! Yeah man.. they really don’t need the headroom.. even my longer fruits just bend over.. it’s not like they grow a Mike a minute lol.. they’ll gradually move. Even if you didn’t want to do such a small tub like I do compared to a 66qt, you coukd do those under bed tubs that are still short but a bit wider.
But really, three of these takes up the same space as a regular mono, but it’s like fruiting in all the headroom of a 66 but they fit on my shelf in the closet... basically like fruiting a mono on its side

I use the same amount of spawn I would use in a 66.. 1 brick of coir/6 quarts of spawn.. granted it’s a bit more work with the cleaning but not much. And I get about 8oz with a good culture first flush for the 3. Horse a piece really, but they fit my set up.
That first tub up there dried down to 2.8oz and the second is in the ‘drator now.. might be a little less but that’s pretty good for my rye tubs.. I bet the first clone would do over 3 on spelt. Definitely keeping them to try out on spelt later. Think I’m done for the year with PE tubs though.. I’ve got 2 more spelt tubs just about to fruit and then I’m strictly working on stabilizing p+ and some other crosses

Good morning Faht!
Hey, did you say you used these tubs and hole configuration for other cubensis as well?

Mornin! Yeah.. kinda.. they’ve all been PE cross attempts but the hole configuration seems to hold humidity well.. they’re pretty short tubs though. But the fruits just bend over if they’re tall

I'm running a few shoebox style just flipping the lid. How did that work out for you? I figured you tried without holes a couple times at least, or did you go straight to drilling and figuring out the configuration?

I did the holes right away based on the bag FC I made with the tester containers I made. And then I had all drilled tubs so I haven’t tried it without them. Please let me know how it turns out.
