alter ego said i had the mushroom fever, but i told him, no, its only shroomery-itis I convinced my parents to let me grow edibles in their basement! They live in the next town and I wanted to visit them more often, anyway. What I plan is to gain experience in edible mushroom production in a larger scale than I did before. Though I have doubts. The basement is not very clean and there is lumber down there which has no other place. I can clean it but I can't renovate the whole thing at the moment. Do I need a foil-tent or anything like that? It would be easier to make small foil-tunnels on top of the boxes, instead. I wanted to grow White Elf at first and already built wooden boxes (about 0,3x2x0,3m) layed out with foil for the substrate and the shrooms. The temperature in the basement is relatively low. Assumed I would harvest few kg of good quality (exotic) shrooms, should I try to sell them to a market (to check prices and demand) and is there a risk to get in trouble with the health department? I've tried the basement for a couple of Agaricus species, but you need light for pretty much anything else. And if you're growing in wooden boxes, have a plan ahead of time for the fruit flies (they will come, and they will infest your mycelium and reduce your harvest and possibly annoy your parents upstairs).
