Using DD-WRT as a VPN

Ok, so as it stands, I currently have an ADSL router that my ISP has provided me with. Now this has been fine but I've had another router (Netgear WNDR3700) sitting around that I'd quite like to make use of. Luck may have it but I recently purchased myself a VPN client that I've been using, but only on my own personal computer ever since. Now what I'd like to do is bridge the extra router that I currently with my existing router that is connected to the internet. Now the spare router has already been flashed with DD-WRT and a hard reset means it's good to go.
What I'm having difficulty doing though is sourcing any tutorials on how to use the second router as a bridged VPN. This other router will be hard wired so there's no reason to be concerned about wireless issues or anything like that.
Now, my questions are as follows:
- Can this be done?
- If so, is there any guides out there?
- If there are guides, please can you post them in my direction
I would much rather have all devices connected to my home network make use of the VPN rather than my desktop machine. This is coming from both a security and anonymity stand point so any help would be much appreciated.

I would consider attending a local 2600 magazine meeting in your area. Also, write to 2600 about this - they'll maybe have an answer. Wherever you find your answer, write up about how to do it!! I'll certainly be curious!

Any DD-WRT build from the last few years can run OpenVPN as server or client with no need for any special plug-ins or additional software. In either case, you set this up from the usual DD-WRT interface, accessed via web browser by navigating to the router's local ip address.

Normally you'd do this from the same router that acts as your LAN gateway, you don't need a second router. If you really need the snazz-factor for some reason and just wanna have more blinking lights and cables running everywhere, then you need to set up the VPN on your gateway and set the other router up as a simple access point. Two gateways on the same LAN is a non-starter, if I recall correctly.
Lastly, not sure that this is really the best place to ask for this kind of help. DD-WRT has active forums, and a reasonably complete and up-to-date wiki as well, wiki.dd-wrt.com and forum.dd-wrt.com

Follow-up, after replying to your post I found myself wondering about a few details so I went sleuthing the internet - I wasn't totally correct about the double router situation. You can have two gateways on the same connection, but you can't have them both acting as DHCP servers on the same subnet.
This link should get you most of the way to where you need to go: https://www.vpnuniversity.com/routers/setup-two-routers-with-dedicated-vpn-router
If I understand you correctly, your current router is actually a router *and* a DSL modem? Unfortunately that means you're stuck with whatever firmware is baked onto that thing unless you want to trash it and go buy a separate modem unit and additional router - the key thing you need that modem to do is called "VPN passthrough", hopefully for OpenVPN protocol specifically.
