That looks pretty good too. Although mine tend to look ok until they hit a certain size.

I’m hoping my current one turns out like cracks. It’s got a little overlay starting but it’s fluffy and not rhizo fingers which is what usually mess things up.

It looks like the overlay is ok so long as it stays fluffy. The thick shit the rhizo turns into seems to coat and smother everything so it can’t pin like normal.

I don't know if it'll ever happen, as in possible. I'm gonna try and cross Natalensis with Playa Uvita. I'm gonna give it a hell of a try unless somebody has some really scientific reason to its impossibility.

I'm pretty sure I crossed it with PE just by mixing spawn.

Had to move on to other projects so didn't test it further.

Those look sick Grim.

I think this might actually be how they got PE started in the first place. My theory is that someone crossed a cube with a similar unknown species and that is how we ended up with Penis Variants. We really didnt have sequencing till the last 10 years so no one can say for sure. If these spores looks identical to Cube spores under the microscope.  Also lots of animals can breed inter species.
Look at Mules. They are just spore less Horse Donkeys.

I thought PE was derived from fruits found  in the Columbian jungle. Maybe that was a different variety tho:blush: Frankly these Natalensis look like Tampanensis crossed with Cubensis considering the lanky stipe with the lil circle caps.

Damn grim those are badass. Did anybody try them??

That’s a good point about the hybrids too, weird stuff can happen. Like with ligers where they for some reason lose the gene for size control and end up bigger than both parents combined.

It’s interesting that these and playa have so many similarities too. Whether it’s from being wild still or cuz they’re a different species found in two continents.

That's what I'm worried about trying to cross them, they have very similar looks. Small caps and knarly stems. It might end up looking like something else completely different. Love that PE cross.

Can we all agree this is a badass cross? Like not just a cube cross, but an actual cross!

If Nat can readily cross with cubes,

"Natal super strain" could be a natural nat/cube cross

It's just so wonky. I wish psilopsychin would chime in and tell us what he did because his tubs didn't have any overlay.

Hi Guys
I've been really out of it lately. Not getting much of anything done and most of my myco projects sliding into serious neglect.

I have not logged on in a fair bit of time and was skimming over this for the first time in a long while.

Two thoughts I had. One, for the person who was saying they were giving up on this strain due to low yield and not sure if the trip was worth it... a) They can yield light, but I have had a clone that produced canopies and flushed three or more times with pretty decent weight (I don't know what page but there is a photo some where.). b) I have not eaten them myself (I rarely trip) but I have had several written trip reports come back from people saying that the trip was different, and awesome. One also said it was almost PE potent. I have noticed some of mine have bruised almost black and I think that was the batch that guy got.

Two as for the comment here about overlay. I had ZERO issues with overlay when I spawned to a mixture of about 40% chopped straw and 60% coir/verm. I tend to think that it overlays when it has too much nutrition. I think coincidenbtally the straw coir experiments also had low spawn ratios so it is not entirely clear if it was the straw or the lower amount of grain in the substrate. I don't have any direct evidence of this but the no overlay stuff tended not to bruise as darkly. The fruits were also much more cube like in appearance while the overlay bunch was more like big pans. It is a shape shifter - pretty sure that was the same clone on both substrates that led to very different looking fruits.

I have a two quarter pint jars - one with a new natalensis culture and one with the old one described above. they are both fruiting now. Maybe you're wondering why I am fruiting quarter pint jars... they were sitting around over colonized for several weeks (see first paragraph) and I just said fuck it and rather than g2g ing them to the bags of grain I was NOT getting around to prepping I just spooned a couple spoons of coir verm on top and figured I would look for a new clone candidate.

keep up the good work guys. Grimsweeper did that vendor ever replace your P. Natalensis syringe? I told them mine was bacterial soup and I wanted a print and they never got back to me. It was damned expensive ordering from them so I"m kind of ticked off that it was so bacterial and they did not offer to send a print.

I just inoculated a few small containers with LI made from the germination plate. It has all kinds of myc in it and it's all mixed up. Half are straw based substrates and half poting soil based. No grains. All of them sterilized and one container of pasteurized plain poting soil.
Will let you all know how that goes.
