It's a makeshift forced air heater made from some dryer vent ducting taped onto a desk fan, and some ceramic heat emitters (reptile heaters) against the outside of the ducting. I made it with parts from my old DIY dehydrator and figured this was good enough until I rig a new one but I'm kinda digging it now. The emitters heat the duct and fan blows air through the duct to disperse the heat through the greenhouse. I feel like with the air flow being more concentrated it may actually work faster than my old one. Duct doesn't actually get hot so not worried about burning the fruits but should be enough heat to coax out the moisture and definitely enough air flow to carry it away. Plus, if I'm lucky, it will spread some spores for me and I'll get some surprise cubes in the spring. There's a little over 100g in the pic so not a large amount at all but that could always be scaled up.
Just for reference, this has been my greenhouse heater through the winter. It's using one 150w and one 100w ceramic emitters and a small desk fan and has kept the greenhouse 10-15 degrees warmer than outside air through our coldest nights so far. I'm really conscience of power usage so keeping my peppers and cactus and such happy all year for less than 300w is awesome. Not a lot of heat being put out at once but just enough heat and circulation to make a good temp buffer. The airflow inside the duct should do a fantastic job of carrying away moisture (and spores) quickly an keep them from absorbing more from the air until I either fine tune this design, or just build one that I know works.

You'd think?!
But I didn't start getting mold until I moved to agar. I heard about that here and got hooked.
Funny, I had lots of success with cakes, ms syringes, a SGFC and no pc. I probably just got lucky, or I'm a dirty bitch, maybe both. I do enjoy it more with agar and grains. I see the potential and I'm getting there. This hobby is teaching me some well-needed patience.
I appreciate this site very much.

Pea+ f1 x pf redspore (P+R) cross attempt.. this 16qt tub is only 13.5 days old. Started pinning on day 8.. fastest tub I’ve ever grown. I just wanted to see what would happen if you try crossing with an f1 fruit.. wasn’t expecting this

Dropping purple spores but definitely not pea+.. doesn’t have the phenos of PE, aa+, pea+ or pf redspore (besides some stem bumps directly below the cap—you can see them in the tallest back, right fruit in the first pic) Very interesting.
PE/pfrs.. most (the flowers looking fruits) were sporeless.. couple had purple spores and found 1 with red spores

I cloned a normal looking fruit, but 80% of what I get from this variety (Burmese Penis Envy) is crazy mutants like this one.

I'd personally clone the most mutated (and/or largest) mutant and see where that leads.

I cloned it just for shits n' giggles, especially because it was a decent-sized fruit... anyone have any luck with isolating weird mutant traits?
I would love to know how the clone goes. I've been looking all over on here tonight to see if anyone clones mutants.

You would think but pf redspore aren’t a cross with CRS or anything.. it’s just a mutation that happened in one of pf’s classic cube grows years and years ago and they produce spores really late in the flush where the caps are completely flattened out and usually turning up. these are where the pfrs spores came from for the double swab..
Here’s a pfrs grow I did years ago

The p+r’s are starting to drop purple spores as soon as they get to that dome shape. I’ll take more pics tonight (like y’all were worried I wouldn’t ) after work and more are mature. It’s a head scratcher for sure
Edit: I snapped a pic just now and it looks like there’s going to be a lot of split caps by tonight... I’m printing one just to see what the spore color is.. I swear the gills have a red tint to them as well as purple.. if they have purple and red spores, P+R would be a pretty appropriate name lol

My first ever pins! I know this isn't the best pin set you've ever seen, or probably even the best you'll see today but I'm on cloud 9. Even better yet, it looks like I'll be able to get some fruits in hand for my snowboard/hotspring trip with the wife over Valentines day!

This is the best of my 3 shoeboxes. It's hard to tell from the pictures but in this one there's like 15 micro pins I'm also stoked because I was expecting nothing but side pins but for now they all seem to be right on top and centered. Couldn't have done it without you guys and gals.
