This is one of the pitfalls of Shroomery imo. There’s many knowledgeable people here that could answer all your questions, but getting someone to hold your hand isn’t the way. Learn the mechanics behind mycelial growth and you wouldn’t even need to give this a moment’s thought.

Some people shake or break up/reconsolidate multiple times. I personally break up my bags at 80-90% colonization and allow them to reconsolidate for 5-7 days. Ensures that mycelial growth is present on all grains and considerably speeds up the colonization of that last 10-20%. If you're talking about shaking directly after inoculation; this should only be done when using LC's, do not shake after inoculation using mss.

You know what the real pit-fall is about this forum? Assholes who want to exert some sort of power trip because someone asked a simple question. If you can't answer without being a prick, don't. It is a very simple concept. I've made my entire way without anyone "holding my hand". It's a freaking conversation forum for Pete's sake. Sorry for anyone else reading this because this is the negative energy that I try not to portray. Just that some keyboard warriors who need to feel good about themselves bring it out of me.

Shake them. I shake at 20 or 30% and again at 70% gets it colonized a lot faster. O also shake on the 3rd day after agar drops to spread points. If it goes bad after a shake it was already bad and would've been an issue either way.
The problem with this forum is there are some people here that would rather waste their time typing hateful replies than just overlook posts they don't like. Don't worry about that. This is the best place for mush cult info and there are a lot more helpful knowledgeable friendly people than the other.

I recently went no shake on a batch of jars to compare colonization speeds. Not a good idea. The middle of the jars didn't colonize, so luckily while I was spawning them to bulk I was able to scrape off most uncolonized grain. I still expect contamination to happen though. Shake em!
