Colonizing nicely on wood is one thing, but fruiting is another. I've colonized pine needles before with Cubensis, but never fruited. I can't imagine Natal would love wood to fruit on if it's so closely related to Cubensis.
I just put some agar wedges to a couple of jars from spores I got from Myc_Hunt. Thanks again! I'm curious to add this to the list of experimental species. I will be spawning to pasteurized manure/straw/coir/verm when the time comes and probably casing with jiffy mix to help deal with matting. I may try giving them some consolidation time on the shelf before late casing. Not sure yet. It will be going into a greenhouse instead of a monotub.
I'm really interested to hear more peoples experiences with the trip itself and it's personality. If it's closely related to Cubensis genetically, is the trip as well?

When I did the wood chips it was literally just to see what would happen. That's why it's at the bottom of a ziploc mini lol.
I'm not sure what the right mix is but I went heavier on manure this go round and pasteurized it using Jake's pan method. And since I have trays that are basically the same thing i was gonna run with casing and one without just to see what difference it makes if at any.
This is partly why I would make a bad scientist, I change too many variables to keep track of what works sometimes
And the trip is basically like cubes but more visual and less dread/doomy. Idk how else to explain it in a way that I haven't before lol

Might as well. It looks nice as a uniform growth pattern like its weeping through rather than trying to run through it, nah mean?

Take from that rhizo and also from the very "worst" looking spot on the plate and compare.

Well so much for grabbing tamer myc. This is what I meant by layers of rhizo.

Itβs got a solid base of myc on the agar then those thick bunches growing over that. Some of the other growth still has potential though, gotta see what it does in the next couple days.

What's your agar recipe? I've been getting "decent" myc on 1.5% lme/agar. I guess we'll see if it's even worth a shit in a few weeks lol
I have good looking t2 for lagm with different mycelium structures that I'm gonna put to grain to see what that does. I'm also gonna try poking and transferring again to see if I can get more consistency. I'll post the pictures tonight hopefully

Do you think you've isolated any monocultures or do you think all these crazy rhizos are due to genetics crawling all over eachother?
What about trying a josex Poke to get the smallest possible sample?

Iβm not sure but I think that plate is 8g/8g.
I kinda think thatβs just how some of the myc is. A while back I had a clone on t6 and it calmed down some but not completely.
Problem is mostly Iβm holding it to cube standards.

Me? I don't think I have any monocultures. I don't know if these rhizomorphs start from one hyphae or multiple. I've only read that it would be it's own "strain" or dikaryon and haven't heard of multiple mycelia creating the structure with different genetic pairs.
And yeah I mentioned that I was gonna poke em. I'm super new to lc's so that's more for my education than this thread though. The wedges I'm putting to grain tonight are what I'm running for this thread/my own experiments. I have some of the pint jars with oats in the pc right now that I'm gonna run mini shoeboxes with to see what difference the mycelium makes from agar. I'll post the pictures in here too

If I ever get to it, I want to try and run these like Asura does his pans. Direct LC inoculation of a sterilized manure bulk.
I was gonna use his same ratios and everything for my go at pans, mexi, tamps and might as well toss the Nats in the mix
Right now I have some natalensis MS on T1 I think

You guy's made me get my clone plate out of the fridge. Back on fresh agar again. I'll be back at them again.

Got my first ever grow going down and looking good so far (I think). Six 1/2 pint jars which I am going to try multiply with this tek and then go bulk with coir.
Seeing as though they are such "aggressive" mycelium, I suppose it will go fairly smooth. I can definitely see what is described as rhizomorphic mycelium in my jars.

Took transfers, put 2 of the colonies in the fourth picture on grain to see the difference between the thick rhizo and the less rhizomorphic tomentose.
