From the forum rules:

Quote:

6.  No asking when or where mushrooms, or a specific mushroom species will grow.
This includes, asking what habitat a mushroom[s] can be found- or their preferred fruiting conditions.  This can answered by searching for your species of interest on MushroomObserver.org or iNaturalist.org, or using the "search posts" feature: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/search.php

Not yet in the Hunter. Too early. And cold as well. Yesterday and today are chilly. End of November hopefully if we’re lucky.

Well pictures with the stems would help immensely. If you find more try to take a few in-situ shots.
If they bruise they’re good!

Yeah I second that. Go have another look where you found them. Take photos before you pick them. Then as soon as you pick. Then 15 min later. Should bruise up by then.
Good luck mate.

IMO they look like pans. Not a TI though but almost exactly like the one I found.

Alright, thanks guys! Might go for a walk later today or tomorrow. Hopefully they did't dry out. It's been sunny since Friday afternoon. Where are you located?

Panaeolus papilionaceus is usually the one that they get confused with. Considering they grow in the same.. shit, might be wise to familiarize yourself with both. Internet/image/search is a good start.

first pick mid-north NSW see photos! [Re: The Thing]
    #27538105 - 11/10/21 04:08 PM (2 years, 4 months ago)

Hi all

First pick ever and in mid-north coast of NSW. Had a bit of rain fall and humidity so found some popping up around the place. Picked these - are they anything of interest?

The picture of these smaller guys are something different - any info on what they are as well

Thanks!

If you want an accurate ID from a TI, i would suggest making an ID request for both groups.

TI = trusted identifier.

Having said that the first ones look like cubes to me not sure about the others.
