Slow down PF jar
    #27153068 - 01/17/21 11:33 AM (1 month, 9 days ago)

One jar is way ahead of the others and already pinning. Should I still do the soak before it goes in a fruiting chamber?

Can I safely put it in the refrigerator if I want to let other jars catch up?

I wouldn't fridge it. I don't think it makes a huge difference if you wait for more jars or open as they're ready. Once birthed you can pick off the invitro growth for eating and continue as you planned.

Thanks! These are exciting times, seeing the first structures that actually look like mushrooms!

You're doing great dude. Just keep it going. After birthing is the toughest part usually, patience. lol.

Are you sying its more likely to go wrong after birthing?`

I'm having trouble getting away from thinking about mushroom cultures like the yeast used for brewing which seems to prevent or destroy competitors!

 no no not at all. Most of the time it's just the wait that kills people on their first grow, checking a tub for 2-3 weeks waiting for something hoping it's ok. If you made clean spawn and make a decent tub or fc, it's nearly set & forget. Getting sterile tek, prep, and all that right is the biggest impact on your grow.

What kind of fc are you making? I can set you up with details so you can make sure it's right and ready to go.

Looking good so far!

Suggested reading for making a SGFC:

Basic Principles of the Shotgun Fruiting Chamber (SGFC)

For optimal results you will want to fill most of the available space in the SGFC with cakes as a solo cake in a big tub doesn't work near as well as multiple cakes an inch or two apart.  12-15 should fit easily in a 54qt - if you have more you can always stack cakes on top of each other or shred some to a coco/verm bulk substrate.  Try to keep the foil relatively close to the size of the cake or it can block airflow to the cake.

If this is going to be more than a one time thing, you will set yourself up for success by getting some agar and containers on hand so when your cakes fruit you can take clones from the best fruits and keep them going...caution this opens a big rabbit hole
