A former CIA officer just went on record that Trump is offering pardons via his minions for $$$$$.
Big suprise.

Oh yeah I forgot a few people. I don’t think he cares about Assange. Assange isn’t on TV

Here’s a question: Why is Assange fighting extradition?

Just for comparisons sake, Obama pardoned 212 and granted clemency to roughly 1,700.
This article is from November, so it's a bit outdated I would think, but it has a nice chart; https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/11/24/so-far-trump-has-granted-clemency-less-frequently-than-any-president-in-modern-history/

Trump has only pardoned a couple regular citizens, everyone else is a political ally, friends and famous people who he’s seen on TV

Looks like the legal eagles have said that its not the pardon in itself, it is the mode in which they are being granted, the pardon manuvers themselves inply criminality of the president.

If he doesn't pardon Assange, Snowden, and Ross Ulbricht, then it's all moot, and Trump will have missed his chance to do some good in his final days.

Ross Ulbricht deserves no pardon. He got rich selling whatever he could to the worst kind of drug dealers and criminals. Total scum.
If Assange gets a pardon, it’s because Trump is cleaning up loose ends. Assange’s utility to Trump ended when he was arrested. You don’t think trump had to approve the move to pressure equador to kick him out?
Snowden should stand trial for stealing documents.
How about people we never heard of. Trump only cares about pardoning famous people.

Not to mention he hired an assassin to murder someone who was attempting to blackmail him (ironically, turns out the "assassin" he hired was probably just a blackmailer).

Jesus Christ. Of course you guys wouldn't like Ross. And by the way, him "hiring an assassin" turned out to be totally false. The prosecutors threw that in there knowing that they couldn't prove it entirely so they could label him as a murderer and justify a life sentence.
Problem is, it wasn't true. Ross never hired anyone to kill anyone. They lied, and now you're perpetuating that lie.
But honestly I would expect nothing less from the two of you.

I wouldn't say that... I mean, it's not a super black-and-white situation for me.
I like the idea of a free, decentralized market on the internet, which is what he was trying to accomplish.
What I don't like was the lack of moderation that went down on the silk road, leading to a lot of morally questionable activity.
I also think the fact that he's serving a double life sentence is a bit excessive. He was practically a child when he was arrested.
See? My position isn't so black and white. I wouldn't just say that I "don't like Ross". There's a lot more nuance to my position.
Like I said, the double life sentence is pretty excessive. But... worthy of a pardon? No way. He's not innocent.

Ross Ulbricht sold unregistered guns and believed he was hiring a hit man to kill an enemy. That he was talking to a an FBI instead agent doesn't change his guilt. It just means he was a fool. Maybe his sentence is too long and should be reduced, IDK. But he was guilty of very dangerous crimes and deserved incarceration. That he was also selling hard drugs makes him a hero figure to many here.

From my understanding of the story, the "hitman" he was talking to wasn't FBI, either. It was a scam artist. I might have been misinformed, though.

Yes, I think you're right. I can't find the sources I looked at a year or two ago. But the scam hitman cooperated with some three letter agency and was a central part of the prosecution.

https://freeross.org/false-allegations/
From the link:
Prosecutors used unproven, unprosecuted allegations of planning murder-for-hire that never actually occurred to deny Ross bail, smear him in the media, bias his jurors, and justify the draconian sentence he ultimately received.
The allegations were never charged at trial and relied on anonymous chats that were never proven to have been authored by Ross. Ross always denied the allegations and those who know him never believed them. Left untouched for years in a separate indictment, the only allegation ever filed was finally dismissed with prejudice by the District of Maryland on July 20, 2018.
“It’s good that the charges have been dropped, but the government’s careless use of them as a media weapon to destroy Ulbricht’s reputation…ha[s] alas already done [its] damage.” – Brian Doherty, Reason Magazine.
I honestly can't fucking believe that on the Shroomery, of all places we have people here who blindly believed the Lies they were told about Ross Ulbricht and even now are engaged in smearing his character.
You people should be ashamed of yourselves.
