I see all the teks use pints but I don't see why this wouldn't work.
The only downside being it's harder to reach in and tighten the caps after the PC cycle.
that's how I do it, but I use one of the 1.5qt jars.

It’s surprisingly tough to find anything useful on them without going off shroomery.
Plus it seems like everybody has a totally different method.
Lol I just ran my first couple hwfp bags and made the mistake of adding the pellets and water to the bag and then spinning it shut to let it absorb. That completely ruined the creases and gussets and made it super hard to close up.
I think it’s cause RR vid kinda stood the test of time for most people and ten years ago very few people were doing bags. So anyone wanting bags usually had enough experience under the belt to run with RR’s way and dial it in from there. I fold so the filter faces up and the opening is tucked under. This vacs the whole works together pretty good. I use foil instead of tyvek and it’s good for 100’s of runs. I am finicky as fuck about the gussets though, I must have them perfect. I’ll spend 2-3 mins sometimes getting it right.

gussets get me fucked up too. I'm running my first bags here soon and I've been reading up as much as I can. If I can get the process down I'll do a detailed write up on it because bags are something I'm really done struggling with haha.

I have a very precise approach to folding gussets and I couldn’t explain it to someone standing next to me while I was doing it. Most of the time it’s only a moment to get the fold good but, sometimes I start over if it’s not lining up right.

Poured some LC today, but was not happy with how wet my grains looked. I did a smaller batch and I think the times were off... Might have some pretty mold to share in a few days.

Has anyone in their own opinion ever found definitive proof that clones should be from the first flush? I have had some decent 2nd flush clones but cant find much info on other peoples 2nd flush clones.

I clone whatever looks like a good clone. First, second, last, doesn't matter if the fruit looks like it'll perform well as a clone go for it.

Man I just put a big stack of germ plates into the tub I use as an incubator, then put a 1/2 pint brf jar on top of the stack. I guess it was just a tiny bit too tall and putting the lid on cracked some plates.
I’m glad I’m not the only one messing with gussets. I just made another oyster bag this morning and kept the bag neat and it was way better. When I dumped the boiling water in it kinda steamed the creases out of the bag though.

It is my knee jerk tendency to give less weight to the size and look of a fruit from later flushes as the energy from the sub goes into "produce less fruits, but bigger fruits" mode so I tend not to trust what my eyes see in this department post first flush. To my estimation the first flush is the truest representation of a fruit's natural inclination to be a bigger, or denser, or faster forming fruit. That being said, I have run some late stage clones and did not notice much if any performance difference. I have had first flush clones that were slower and some that were faster, the same has held true of the times I did late flush clones as well.
I too would be interested to know if there is anything definitive on this subject.

Most of the time I clone individual fruits they do not meet my expectations. Clusters clones on the other hand

When people shorten "p cyan" can it mean both panoleus cyanens and psilocybe cyanens? Are there more "p cyans"?

I always write (and assume others do as well) P. cyan for Psilocybe and Pan. cyan for Panaeolus. but that's not to say everyone does all the time. So I suppose without clarification there is a possibility of miscommunication.

Next time you run a batch of bags fold one without taking great care to match the gussets, you'll see that it makes zero difference. I used to get pretty irritated with gussets, I had to have them matched perfectly or I wouldn't load them. I don't bother trying that hard anymore.

The only thing that’s mattered for me with cooking bags is 3 layers of jar rings to keep the bags out of the water and filter patch out. I don’t tuck the flap.
Wait at LEAST 2 hours before opening PC after it had naturally come back to equilibrium

That’s good to know! I’ve always made sure the gussets we’re perfect and wow what a pain in the ass that is haha

It gets to be tedious when you're trying to get work done and you're fighting to match gussets. If I happen to get it right the first time then that's great but I don't fuck around at all for even a second anymore. Sometimes the folds are super bad down by the grain like it looks fucking awful, even then it still seals no problem. The PC doesn't give a fuck about my eye for esthetics, it gets shit done anyways.
I get what pasty is saying though, a part of me dies every time I don't line them up correctly.

You know what it's funny, I tend to go for that big early guy, but this makes A LOT of sense. I cruised by the clusters in the past because the individual fruits that the cluster is comprised of are usually smaller than the one that is standing all large-and-in-charge by itself, but going for the heart of those dense little clusters sounds like a winner to me if dense flushes and canopies is what we are after.
All those clones and I don't know why this hadn't occurred to me until you said this...
I will try this on me next round of tubs/clones
