Looking for resources to learn gene editing and organism engineering 1

I'm hoping someone can recommend an online course or lecture series on gene editing. I can't seem to find any free courses online, which is a big disappointment considering how easy it is to find upper division chemistry courses. This seems to be a problem with biology in general.
I've got a pretty strong background in chemistry and biology, but anything from the basics to advanced techniques would be great. Even a textbook recommendation would be appreciated.
My goal is to eventually be able to tinker around with some gene editing in my own home, in addition to the mycocultivation I do already.

Join a grad group working on crispr and other gene editing methods, asking us to explain it its asking us to distill years of higher learning in to a forum post.

I know I'm late but I second ice9 suggestion on looking into CRISPR. I'm far from knowledgeable on this subject matter but there are some decent lectures on YouTube. Search DNA sequencing as well as PCR and the newer Qpcr machines. I have actually found older referbished PCR machines on ebay as low as $130 USD.

Also late, but check out The Thought Emporium on YouTube. He does some really clear tutorials on using SnapGene to design plasmids, etc.

Though within the means of the home experimenter, each kind of gene editing is a field unto itself. Start with just a single search term that interests you most.
If privacy is a concern, strongly consider a VPN or suchlike. Social media will keep putting you in touch with same people, relentlessly, when you're just trying to run errands.
