What was your method for inoculating the plate? I'm assuming that was from a MS syringe?
I can't get mine to germinate for shit

I inoculated a bunch of plates and only two germinated, so I feel you.
Yes I used a MS syringe. I flame sterilized the needle, waited for it to cool, and then pushed out a 1-2 drops onto the plate (all done in a SAB). Then wrap in parafilm.
I think germination results are more dependent on agar recipe. I can't remember the teks but I remember seeing a few on here made specifically for making the agar more viable for spore germination.

I opened up the plate in open air (dumb I know). Is it still worth doing transfers or did that compromise the entire plate?

You can still transfer to get 100% clean.

Even if the plate got "dirty" agar is a fantastic medium to clean cultures. So yeah, do a transfer, if it gets dirty do another one. Once you have a bit of experience you will be surprised what things you can actually "save".

Try brf pucks. I had the same issues, only getting bacteria on my plates and no myc. Saw someone suggest brf pucks, tried it, and all my syringes germinated in less than 7 days. Then I just plucked some myc off with sterilised tweezers and put it to agar to clean up. Those brf pucks have just started pinning so I'm gonna clone and print some of the best shrooms and I've put the agar plates to more grain. Try it, it works. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the tip, HappinessStan! It's such a simple concept that I would never have thought of myself lol. I've been thinking for the last month I'm going to just make some cakes to inoculate so I can get some clones/prints from but this will save me quite a bit of time. Cheers!
