Hiking with difficulty * 1

So it turns out I have long term, or long haul covid.  I get muscle pains that are severe and suffer brain fog and intense fatigue.  Despite that, I took a short 2 mile hike, it as totally worth it, though it took me 2 hours and I don't know how they rate hikes but this was one step above walking on concrete walking path.  It felt super good, and made me very proud of my self for persevering (I was with another hiker incase of an emergency.  The cold hurt my lungs, I have always had cold induced asthma, and it is worse since the covid.  This gave me hope I can make a full recovery, plus being in nature was healing in a spiritual way, this from an avoxwed atheist too, but it just felt right.

I'm not a doctor, but in my opinion you can't get better by sitting on the couch. Good on you for putting forth the effort to improve yourself.

Pacing is the important thing. When you're healing from anything you really don't want to push yourself much. Slow gentle walks with rests as you need them.

Also pack extra food, maybe a warm drink in a thermos. Nows not a time to "tough it out." I highly highly recommend hand and toe warmers for your breaks. They're a great luxury and genuinely do help your body stay warm and comfy (and therefore spend less energy on thermoregulation and give you more energy for the exercise.)

They make heat exchanger masks and I would recommend looking into that as well. Pain is a signal telling us to take it easy so listen to your lungs and try to make them happy (breathing in the steam from a warm drink can help you there too.)
