I just inoculated my first BRF jars. So on the Reddit, I got conflicting advice... Do I cover up the inoculation port and not allow O2 to enter the jar or do I let the mycelium get air as they are forming?

Do your brf jars have a latyer of verm on top? If you have the protective top surface of verm, the Verm should keep any contaminants out. If you don't, it wouldn't hurt to cover the holes with a layer of two of micro pore tape. But definitely leave reddit alone and do your studying here.

It is BRF and shredded wood.. I I am not sure if there is Verm on top...

When in doubt I would some type of barrier. Are they just the small 1/8 inch holes?

I used micropore tape over mine, worked fine.

Anywhere from a week to 3 weeks, it varies quite a bit. My first cakes were 7-12 days till the first cloudy areas started appearing.

OMG I HAVE MYCELIUM!
I got tiny little tendrils of white thread in all 3 of my jars!
I am so freaking stoked. My first growth!
