I nuked my bio material until the bag melts then the sand I trust to not be very contaminated. I'm sowed in a thin layer of sand so I'm a little confident that mold won't grow on the sand hopefully. I'm just scarred these seeds are bunk. Also intimidated by the humidity factor.

I obviously didn't hydrate enough (because I over hydrated last time)  so I'm catching up misting in the morning when the sand gets a little crackly.

It's perfectly fine to start them now if you have heat + light. Also, you can use green mold to kill off other molds. I don't recommend microwaving at all anymore and find it does more harm than good. Just use a mix that is conductive to good cactus growth and not growing fungus; although there is one fungus that colonizes cococoir and makes it hydrophobic, very annoying. You will see a lot of Thailand nurseries using green slime mold with their cactus.

I'll be starting more seeds as soon a they arrive in a few weeks. It's always a good time to start new seeds but don't expect them to grow quickly in the middle of winter.

I had to turn off my propane tank, I ran out of oxygen in that greenhouse. Both burners were still on but my lighter wouldn't work well inside, elongated flame, etc, which screams low oxygen; hopefully nothing freezes due to a lack of active heat source. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to afford commercial structures and installation, with properly vented heating.

Well as long as I keep 70+ degrees and humid I hope I get 2 or 3 of the 60 I sowed. I'd be happy with just that.

Looking good DancingWolf! Hope it works out in the greenhouse with all your new little friends!

That cutting looks good Psilocin, what's your rootstock?

I'm getting an air root on my crested t. peruvianus. I was planning on regrafting it to a myrtillocactus once the growing season starts here, since it's cold enough outdoors to induce dormancy in cacti for a couple months.

My question is, is there a problem if I leave the bottom 1/4 or 1/3 of the scion on the stock so it creates more pups if it has air roots or does that mean I should plant it? I remember reading air roots can be caused by a nutrient deficiency, but I don't think it's the case since my peres still has most of it's leaves and I've been occasionally fertilizing it with half strength fert:

I realized I didn't have any cactus to graft on so I just got some Home depot torch cactus, I'm guessing it's some Tricho grandiflorus hybrid.

I can't comment on crested grafts or monstrose plants and if new grow will end up reverted or as new crests. I do usually cut my strong grafts with an inch of material left on the stock plant. Usually if there are air roots poking out of the bottom then there are several more unexposed roots forming in the graft. It shouldn't cause any issues at all. They are just air roots and some of my most vigorous grafts have air roots as well as some of my weaker ones. It's hit and miss because I have had huge Pereskiopsis grafts not produce air roots at all.

Not sure what causes them to form but I guess the plant is seeking additional resources to sustain its rate of growth and wants to grow faster than the stock will allow for.

++

Must have still been sleeping when I read your post. Edited and clarified that it shouldn't cause any issues.

I started some seeds and they are all getting a little red dot. I think it's condensation building up on the seed,  then some coloring coming off the seed into the water droplet. Sowed yesterday night,  so guessing it's just colour

Some plants I grafted in summer of 2018? 2019? They are growing into big bois now and leading the way for the others <3. Hopefully they 2X, 3X in size when I move them to bigger pots this spring. I'm also de-grafting just about everything from previous years and starting over with fresh grafts. Some may get moved onto PC Pedro but most of them will go into 2.5" or 3" pots to root, then into larger pots.

Yeah, $50 phone is the best pic you can get.
Yeah, Im hoping it's just the fuzz of germination that people talk about.  It's day 3.

We are pretty much on the same time line! I'm on day two.  Here are some pics showing a "red blob" on one end of the seed, all the seeds have it.  Have a look.

Also,  I'm using quickkrete play sand, says pure washed and sterile.  I washed it myself and brought it wet to 180 degrees for half an hour.  Hope that's all fine.

I spray my seeds with diluted peroxide water every few days, and it really minimizes any contams.

I hope the sand it's self will keep down on mold.

Anyone know what the current auction price is for an Ogun cutting?

Asking for a friend... :cheersyoufuck:

i cant find pics now but i remember fuzz roots are like white hairs that go from the down part towards soil, mold is more like messy wool all over the seedling

What is the hybrid? I have some Zelly crosses coming from misplant, including a zelly crossed with TPC... REALLY EXCITED,  can't wait to see if I can get flowers.  Living in Canada, everything is in pots, so I think flowers for a regular trich will be tricky.
