Earlier when I saw this web site offering free samples of just about everything on their site, (I got the link from the shroomery), I searched for "Desiccants" and a lot of answers came back :

Which size should I get? I was just thinking of getting the Tyvek? Desiccant for 13.32 cu. feet since it's the largest.Is this a good idea? Or should I get a smaller size. I will be using a (medium to large sized) bowl with a package of desiccant on the bottom and a screen to hold the mushrooms on, and suran wrap over the top of the bowl to to keep it covered so they dry good. PM me or leave a response here. Any help would be appreciated. :smile:

Don't seal the wrap over it entirely. Leave a little room so the air will circulate. I've found this to speed up the drying but it uses up the dessicant faster.

So should I get the biggest one, or a different size? Go there and see what sizes they come in.

I guess since the one you intend to get is the largest one, 13.32, it would be plenty. Better than not enough. I think you can dry those back out and use them again too. Good stuff!

I think the damp rid salt stuff works better then the silica gel for mushrooms???

Home depot and lowes sell the 48 ounce box for a few bucks. Just put that in the bottom of a mini rubbermade and use a dishstand to prop mushies over.
