Will PE Flush Twice on BRF? 1

I pulled some nice fruits off my BRF Cakes 11 days ago, dunked, rolled in verm and put back to FC on. Since then, no growth other than new mycelium overtaking the verm. I had 12 cakes and the others flushed 3 times (PF Red Spore). Those cakes are about dead, but I only got one flush from my PEs. Should I hold on to them for another week or two? They took FOREVER to fruit (almost 70 days exactly from inoc to harvest).

Most people would agree that PE does often take more time. So I would give them a little longer unless you need the space.

Yeah.. hold onto them.. might need to bottom water or add a verm layer on top that you can soak to rehydrate (if they feel dry). They just take a long time to flush.. even later flushes

I had a fantastic flush of PEs that were harvested 20 days ago. Out of five cakes I harvested over 230 grams (wet). I dunked and rolled said cakes (24 hours) and put them back in the SGFC. Exactly 3 weeks have elapsed and I do see some pins initiating again. However, they seem to abort rather quickly. My other cakes (PF Red Spore) fruited 3 times. I am thinking that maybe the cake is nutritionally spent since the first flush was fairly abundant. I did make a change to my growing room where I moved my SGFC from my upstairs closet to a new grow room downstairs. I burn wood downstairs but my grow room is still hovering around 50% RH. I do not think that would effect the grow. So, for you cool cats and kittens, is my logic bunk or do you suspect that I am on to something?

If it’s been 3 weeks, they’re probably out of water again.. try putting some wet verm on the tops of the cakes and keep it wet for a couple days.. that’s should help with aborting. You could be right about the cakes being spent too, but 3 weeks without added water is a long time

What's shaking Fahtster? I have been misting these cakes twice a day (because there is a wood stove burning close by) and they seem to be hydrated. New myc is forming all over the cakes. The pins that popped two days ago aborted along with a second cake. I think what I am going to do today is crumble all of those cakes into a bag of substrate that I have laying around. If my rudimentary mycology skills are up to par, since these cakes are still producing myc, the cakes would benefit from the nutrients in the substrate (this substrate is a premade bag that was given to me from a sponsor here on Shroomery). I figure that since I spent zero dollars on this stuff it is worth a shot. Am I somewhat on par with this being a viable experiment?

Got a pic of the aborts? Could be too wet if you’re misting them twice a day. Are the cakes turning blue? Odds are that if you crumble the cakes, they’ll contaminate. They’re covered in contaminate spores by this time, having been sitting in open air this long and if you crumble them, you’ll weaken their defenses and mold or bacteria will take over.
But like you say, if you’ve written them off already and aren’t worried about trying something with them, there’s always the chance (albeit smallish) that they’ll make it being crumbled into bulk substrate

Faht, I pulled these out to show you and immediately felt that they were dry. I added verm to water in a bowl, mixed and layered it on top and put a little under the cakes too since I had some left over. Anyway, I am having a hard time keeping them moist due to my wood stove. The room they are in has a RH of 42%. I read that is acceptable, but the air is super dry down there. It seems if I skip one day of misting, they will be bone dry. Here are some pics. There were more pins than I thought after I removed them and took a closer look. I def don't think I am over watering.
