As far as I know you can chew it for about 2 hours before spitting out.. The large packets they sell can be chewed much longer. I let it sit in the side of my mouth and spit the juice out occasionally. You can use just the betel nut and you don't need the piper betel leaf. Try some baking soda instead of lime if you are desperate but it doesn't work as good.

Please try not to swallow the wad. You will get very sick. The mixture should include some kinda of lye to drak w the alkaloids out of the betel Palm Nut.

Oh yeah, one tenth of the world population chew betel nut.
It is one of the staples of Guam, but George bush the father banned it in Guam. It is highly prized and balck marketed all over Guam and the marshall Islands as well as most of Polynesia, Melanesia, India, Indonesia and much of South eaast Asia, the Solomons and melanesia.

The FDA declared it had some cancer causing elements in it. What i am not sure of but I am sure that you could find the info somewhere on the internet.

They were really pissed at G H. Bush over that.
Some christian elements in Hawaii are trying to get Kava banned as a dangerous drug.
About ten Years ago, Dr. Mark MErlin had to testify in a court trial in Hawaii regarding a Samoan who just came d form a cere,onial Kava meeting and was charged with driving under the influence.
It was his releigion they were attacking and his right to drink Kava.

They will continue to persecute plants till the day I die. .But I swear to discover more than they can ban.. Lets see them ban Petunia! Really though, there is a ton of evidence that Betel causes cancer and it is a bitch to import..
Hmm but Brain damage causing Alcohol is A OK with them...

I think it tastes like Soap.. Its like having to eat Speedy Soap.. Anyone work with betel nut extracts? I have some Arecoline extract and was just curious as to its toxicity and pleasurability.

It is like a natural speed. In malaysia, coconut grove workers chew the leaves abut then they have monkeys to do their picking for them,. In fact, Malaysia has a four day work week thanks tot he monkees who pick in four days what takes man 6 days to pick.
They are also betel scherwers in Malaysia aned are always chewing. Women chew more than men.

YOu can get betel nuts and premade betel nut chew from most vendors for pretty cheap. Four ounces will last you a lifetime. Just check out one of the ethnobotanical vendors.

Ive got the Parag's Very intense minty anise flavor. Makes you sick your first couple of times too. A few times it made me want to vomit.
The buzz is kinda like a nicotine/slight drunken inebriation.
