Blue/green mold size of fist in fruiting chamber
    #27139144 - 01/10/21 07:52 AM (3 years, 18 days ago)

Hello all,

I need some help! I've been doing a lot of reading online and on this message board but have not found a clear answer. I found blue/more greenish mold in my fruiting chamber that I cut out once and then it came back for a second time in the same spot. I still haven't seen any pinning and it has been a little over 2 weeks since I transferred by colonized substrate to my fruiting chamber.

I didn't realize when cutting out mold you should not do it within your home. Should I be concerned that I may have released spores within my apartment? Also, should I just pitch what's left in my fruiting chamber away? It only seems to be occurring in one spot.

Thank you!

Mold = toss. There's no cutting or remediation that works. Your home is fine. It was already full of mold spores long before you though about growing mushrooms. Mold spores are ubiquitous they're in every breath of air you take.

You shouldn't cut out mold anyways. It's growing throughout your substrate and to cut it out is a fools errand. It's spread beyond where you can see.
If the first flush isn't coming up and the mold is there it's not worth saving.

Start over.

Bodhi what are your thoughts on this FC? 14 days and seeing large chunks of blue green mold.
Are the current mushrooms salvageable?
Or should I spore print the most vigorous ones and culture on agar?

or you could possibly(youd be treading thin water)get one of those pins and clean it then rip it and get a piece of inner tissue and just put that to agar and cross your fingers just my 2 cents

By the time you see colour it's too late.
