I let my mak go longer than most probably, I take em when the stripe shows the 1st signal of softening. Here is a 240 grammer I tossed in the dehydrator this morning. Spawned 12/17 off a culture with a hidden bacteria that has since been cleansed.

That's a real beauty but I don't think we got the same flavour of the Mak, I got lots of LC left so who knows maybe the potentials in there for sure.

Bags make a difference too for me. I am convinced she likes being choked softly. My tubs are cool & all but react completely different. Bags for the win if ya want monsters.

Are you using 5 micron filter patch bags? I did a bag run with Averys and had lots of contamination issues even with lots of holes poked for FAE.
Might be something to revisit at some point though. Gonna get clones on agar then do a potency check. So far the only fruits I have seen like mine in this thread have been some from aka. Was reading about blueing around the gills being a sign that PE is ready to harvest, same idea here?

Yep, unicorn XLS-A .5 micron. I have run a few varites in bags now. If I see em choking I burn 4 holes 1" or less above sub level with a doobie & cover with 3M microspore tape plenty of oxygeon comes through the filter patch and that allows displacement of the C02 & aids in evavoration off the surface. 99% if I ever see anything other than fat fruit in my bags my spawn was sus..
Nice fruit too bro, I would be happy to rock those dicks... Plenty of clone candidates too..
I have run a few PE's & it is now to the point you could blind fold me & I could tell ya if they were ripe or not, The smell of ripe PE cant be mistaken. Never noticed what ys mention.

I'll be on the look out for smell. Nose is so important in this hobby. I can smell trich in a sub before the trich is even visible.
Yeah really hoping that fast cluster has great potency because from what I've read that's a fast turnaround and it didn't blob without a casing which is also nice. The fruit on the 1qt unbottle there like I was saying is also a candidate growing fast in a cluster and it's SOLID unlike the other fast cluster.
Wondering if the slow ones won't be the more potent ones. Seems like the slower they grow the more time it has to produce the happy chems. Having said that this summer I grew brazilians that were fast, fat and melted my brains so who knows.

Are you just putting pasteurized cvg in the bags or something else?
I have a few quarts of spawn ready and you might have just changed my plans.

I wouldn't pasteurized CVG, bucket tek is fine and isn't pasteurization. CVG doesn't benefit from being pasteurized but I still do boiling water out of habit.
Budda might be doing all in one bags but that's his thing. When I did bags I just dumped a quart of spawn into a bag, dumped in 1.5-2 quarts of bucket tek CVG, shook it and let it go. Sometimes 1/2 of each of these.
Budda might do something different like an all in one. Just seems more efficient to spawn to bulk in the bags instead of pcing the spawn/sub all together.

Cool. Yeah I guess, bucket tek/boiling water is what I meant not pastuerization.
I've done oyster in bags a couple different ways but spawn to bulk would be the most convenient as well.
Thanks

Basic buckett tek to 4 micology quarts spawn to 4 bags. Fold them down to the filter & close with 2 jumbo paper clips... I have played with all in 1 bags & LC but for me energy to sterilize & space in sterilizer was not an efficient use of budget, time or space.
You can go straight coir too & yeild will not suffer.....

Sorry to be an ass in the pain. These things are very enigmatic compared to other cubes for me so I have no idea when to harvest here.
Bad angle to show the size but you get the idea. Leave them for one more night?

If they are firm still I would let em go overnight. I just realized how small & prob thin your sub is with the lighter as a size comparison. Is your sub all dried out ? Been along time since I ran mini's but back then I watered LIGHTLY with a syringe as if their is no moisture left they will stop plumping up. Also i know the excitment is overwhelming but not being in their tub loving the humidified paradise you created will dry em out & stall em too. Let em do their thing & get some humidity.

They are getting bottom watered and lightly misted. Yeah these minitubs were for clone hunting to maximize the amount of genetics on display by breaking up competition. They are 6.5"x4.5" and 3" deep.
There is slight blueing around where the gills used to be and they are soft where the stipe hollows. Yeah bags are cool I have been rocking my version of muda "unbottles" so I wanna see how these perform there.

I’d def let them keep going, PE varieties in particular seem to take forever and really beef up at the last second.
Those are sweet though, Melmakish stipes with half breed caps.

Alright will let them go longer. This is this morning.
They succ up the bottom water in their dish quite fast.
The angle here ain't so great but this unit in this cluster is a neat one. Has gills which are in the process of tearing but the thing I like about it is if I give it a gentle squeeze it's solid from base to cap.

Nice Starbones, I like that pheno you have there. That thick, not too wide cap.
I salvaged a jar from the garage labeled Melmak from August. Smelled great when I popped the lid so sent it to a shoebox. It started pinning before it fully colonized the sub and I moved it to a mono.

Boys, it's a red letter day.
Harvested that minitub from the monotub. Some bacteria was starting to attack so I figure it was time. These units had 1/4 of a mycoquart of spawn to work with and CVG in a 6.5"x4.5"x3" tapered tray, about 3/4 of a quart total capacity.
They had the speed and the cluster was fat but I'm not sure if these will be the genetics I'm cloning for production. I'll put some of the big fruits on agar and see what happens with more minitubs.
The rest of the MS minitubs in action. I love em but they are like the other tub, hollow.
Here it is though, this cluster on my quart cakes. This one I think is the silver tuna.
This dic unit is completely, completely solid from stipe to cap. Can't squish it at all. It's growing in a cluster so that's good. The veil only just began to separate last night so I figure this ones got some more size and weight to pack on. Even with a lighter it's hard to show exactly how big it is.

Boys.
Hard to get the effect because of the curve but here.
Had to lay the quart cake on its side because it was tearing the substrate apart. This motherfucker is SOLID. It's starting to get the cubensis-HPV that you see from other Melmak fruits so I figure one or two more days for it.
The lighter doesn't give you the full idea because it's got a curve like a 70's pornstar. It's over 9' now. I'm gonna take swabs when I clone if anyone is interested.
