Panaeolus Cambodginiensis Jamaica Same As Panaeolus Cyanescens Jamaica?
    #27134268 - 01/07/21 11:35 PM (3 years, 20 days ago)

A vendors decription claims this about the cambodginiensis.

This particular strain of panaeolus was mislabeled for many years through the mushroom community. It was previously thought to be a panaeolus cyanescen. It was only through DNA analysis in 2020 that is was discovered to actually be Panaeolus Cambodginiensis so we have updated mushrooms.com to reflect the correct species name.

So are the other vendors wrong about the Panaeolus Cyanescens Jamaican being Cyanescens?

Maybe, you'll need to check what the other vendors have as P. cyanescens.

I wouldn't really trust the P. cambodginiensis sequences in Genbank to be correctly named, so it'd be interesting to get the sequence and analyze it myself.  Also some careful microscopy needs to be done on the spores and lamellar cystidia.

I wonder who did the DNA analysis.

Can they be distinhuished from spores? It would be interesting to see if there is a different between the cystidiums.
