Had a good forage today. Found a MASSIVE amanitas and some good porcini for dinner.
But I found this white mushroom I do not know how to ID. Found in similar pine growth along porcini and slippery jacks. It smelled like clarified butter/movie theatre popcorn butter. Any ideas?

Tonights dinner:

And check out this massive guy! The biggest I have ever seen!

I've seen them get quite large but this was something else. Hope I can find more!
Headed to Salt Point tomorrow, hoping to see cool fungus

The little guy looks like a chanterelle, but the shot of the gills is too blurry to tell.

I hadn't even thought of Cantharellus subalbidus. I wish my gill shot was better.
It was found under Monterrey Pine. A conifer. Like I said it was fragrant like butter. Not apricot, which I expect from chantrellus. And I see the white one's do not have apricot smell.
I did not notice any forking in the gills when I looked at it. I do find cantharellus californicus often so I am familiar with what to look for.
Would love for a TI to chime in. I'm feeling pretty stumped on this one and just in general not good at seeing distinctions on white mushrooms.

The mushrooms are Leucoapaxillus albissumus, Boletus edulis var. grandedulis and Amanita muscaria subsp. flavivolvata. The trees are Pinus radiata and Cupressus macrocarpa. I found a new speices of bioluminescent Mycena the other day under the Cupressus so definitely check for that at night. It's really small and the whole thing glows brightly.
