January 2021 - Drug Wrapup Month 6
#27132309 - 01/07/21 07:12 AM (3 years, 2 months ago) |
|
|
About 35 years ago I inhaled my first ether, launching my drug career.
In November 2019 I basically quit major recreational drugs.
In mid-2020 I quit alcohol after the alcohol related death of my childhood friend, and I switched from a 100mg caffeine cup of coffee to a 50mg caffeine tablet.
Now, January 2021, there are two "drugs" left:
1..that 50mg caffeine tablet 2..an rx 5mg valium tablet
Starting as of yesterday, I halved my valium to 2.5mg and my caffeine to 25mg, for a 10 day period.
After that, if all goes well, I quit caffeine and take 1.25mg valium for the next 10 days.
Then on day 21, before the month is out, I'll quit the valium too and be completely sober.
Just had a big brain zap. I'm a bit jumpy. I'm a bit shivery, the withdrawal is obviously happening.
Wish me luck guys.
I feel I basically took the caffeine against the sedation of the valium and the valium against the jitteriness of the caffeine
Time to end this mild-alcoholism-on-prescription and the caffeine I took to cope.
Looks like february will be sober.
I've basically been a druggie since I was a kid watching He-Man in the 80s.
Time to sober up.

I find the reverse true, its much easier for me to control caffeine. If I use nicotine it simply WILL turn to abuse so I can never smoke again.
With caffeine, there won't be excesses.

I smoked for 5 years and had a much easier time dropping tobacco than caffeine. Probably because tobacco tastes awful and makes your lungs feel like a bag of dirt. Coffee is soooo much more socially acceptable and so much more accessible. It took me years to eliminate caffeine from my diet. While I was able to quit cigarettes cold turkey my first try.
Of course everyone has a different experience. My best friend hasn’t been able to quit cigarettes for longer than a week for the last 8 years.

I hope benzodiazepine withdrawal wont give me NINE MONTHS OF DISCOMFORT like it did when I quit them earlier.
So far so good though.
My caffeine is in half but so is my valium so my mind is clearer.

If I smoke weed I get an ischemic event requiring nitro vasodilators. I might even get a heart attack from it, like I had before. Weed gave me a lot of anxiety issues. Weed fed my allergies. Weed and I do not get along. However I support the Cause of weed and cannabis legalization. I cheer the legalization wave sweeping the world.
I believe in the good weed can do in the world.
Psychedelics gave me NINE YEARS OF UNINTERRUPTED HPPD until it finally faded.
Still I back psychedelics 100%.
My final trip was a 100 hour trip with no sleep inbetween, a final and utter Tour De Force.
for the first 50 hours, I sunk to the veepest hell and in the subsequent 50 hours I soared to the highest heaven. For more than a month after the trip i was in ecstasy because of what I experienced, and it made any further drug use obsolete.
I got broken down to the very foundation, then rebuilt anew in a full new configuration.
I felt it was time to close the book on reshuffling my deck on drugs and that now the time had come to actually PLAY the deck in sober life.
I'm pro-drugs, I'm just not taking them myself anymore.
Psychedelics saved my life on several occasions.
I am in their debt.
Their therapeutic potential is ginormous, and I know because they HEALED ME.
And when HEALED, you no longer need THE MEDICINE.
My love for the Medicine will remain, cradle to grave.

Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end.... Divine is the fruit of the mind, burnt is the soul who has been starved or overfilled. You can always come back to the tree, but you may find it barren or bitter by then. Although never walking away can be limiting.

Even if you don't really have the desire, I read somewhere( HERE) that eating a mild dose of mushrooms every couple of years is really beneficial. And then like 300 other people agreed.
But I am very happy to see you making these choices. It will surely add many years to your life if that is what is fated!

I can always go back, but I have a strong desire to go forward.
What to spend the same wad of cash on?
10 grams of O-PCE, a rejected animal anesthetic, that was attacking my mind, the fabric of my reality, my liver, my kidneys, my bowel and bladder walls, 40 binges of skipping a nights sleep, coming out of it wired, shellshocked and fatigued...
...or have a 100 foot deep water well dug in a village of 600 people in the most desperately poor corner of an African nation, so poor and with such a bad drinking water situation, people getting the most horrid diseases, little kids and the old folks caring for them dying because of filthy contaminated water -- to take that wad of cash and not make it drug money but make it life saving money bringing the gift of safe nearby water to 600 people.
I made my choice.
A choice not to poison myself with RC's and instead use that money to not have 600 people be poisoned with dirty water animals died in that they had to walk hours for to get.
That there is my doing. That there is me choosing life and not the dissociatives I was addicted to.
Wavy caps grow in my garden for almost a decade and a half now . All they need is some beech wood chips once every other year and me letting them do their thing undisturbed, underneath the Sakura tree. If I wanna trip again, hey, I can wait till the fall or, well, visit a Shroomery Supporting Vendor.

I think they're only really getting started now.
Psychedelics are for making up your mind. After your mind's made up, its time to put thoughts and words into actions.
I don't wanna keep making up my mind every month and a half for the next 35 years.
Its time to sober up.
First thing I did this year was send out an order for 12 fruit trees to be planted near orphanages in Africa so their children have healthier foods to eat and in such abundance they can sell some on the market, not just the fruits but little trees grown from the seeds in the fruits they've eaten. Let the fruit trees pump up the water and give it to then as juicy nutritious fruits, the organic-solar powered way - 12 trees for 12 orphanages and schools for the 12 months to come.
Ask not what humanity can do for you, ask what you can do for humanity.

That's super awesome! Except with most fruit tree's it's best to grow the seeds out, and then graft cuttings from the mother tree onto the seedlings, that way they produce true to form. I'm going to try that with an avocado tree and pecan tree here in the next year.
The well thing is super cool. Americans and any 1st world country are so spoiled and take for granted the fact they can go to the sink and get water they can drink that wont kill them. Mad kudos !
Also I agree with the financial side of things- a drug or alcohol habit- or any bad habit really like (paying for)sex or gambling when looking back on it, sometimes makes the former user cringe.
But like I always say, there's no going back, there is only forward. I know the past exists but really it does not, the only thing that exists is right now which is the future. So keep that light shining full speed ahead and bright!

The first six days of 5+50mg --> 2.5+25mg went so painless that as of tomorrow, I'll skip the schedule and go 0+0mg
So, as of tomorrow - drug free, both "dr00gz" and rx.
Wish me luck
I had so much drugs, enough for 2 lifetimes...
in ~35 years of druggin'
My own weight in tobacco Two buckets of assorted inhalants as a teen two or three buckets of everclear 8 lbs of primo Dutch weed 1.5lbs caffeine, mostly as coffee 2.5oz of primo Dutch MDMA 0.5oz 6-APB ~500 doses of psychedelics 10,000 doses of Rx benzos 5 oz of pre ban methoxetamine
its enough

Oh snap! It's good to hear the reduced dose, and then the even more reduced dose was painless. That's mind over matter for sure.
Tomorrow is the big day for you then ehh?. 0-mg/0-mg!
That's a huge accomplishment and something to be really proud of. Hopefully leading by example some other users here can see that you can still be happy and healthy and fun and "high on life" even being 100% sober.
And by 100% sober to mean even caffeine. That's amazing!
Great Job!
Do you think you'll even enjoy a coffee or a beer or maybe a trip from time to time, once in a blue moon? Once a year? Once every 5 years? Never?
What are your plans going forward for the longterm?
Thanks for sharing your journey . I have been reading your journey posts even though I don't always respond. And now for the next chapter here we go!

No further doses are planned but of course, you never know, life has a way of dishing out the unexpected.
Waking up without caffeine was easy since there also was no valium
We'll see if it holds.
I'll keep the Rx 90x5mg boxes of valium coming in case I change my mind
If I tell the doctor I've quit, he'll permanently end the prescription I just know it. I inherited the valium Rx from my former doctor, my new and improved doctor is not a fan of benzos.
I just hope that there won't be a problem with this final dosage reduction from Something to Nothing.

Isn't it like for someone who is an alcoholic, it's a bad idea to keep ANY alcohol in the house?
Although, I do believe benzos and alcohol are two different things when it comes to that. In your case, I think it might be a good idea to keep some on hand just in case of a panic attack maybe or later on down the road some serious symptoms? I don't know.
But by keeping a stash around you're enabling yourself to start using again let's say you decide to take one one day and like the effects and then you're back at square one using it.
About the 100% sober thing though- I was thinking about it, and I think things like coffee can be beneficial for health as it helps cleanse the bodies elimination system. Daily coffee drinking, and throughout the day is a bad habit for sure though! Luckily for me I've never struggled with coffee. I had a cup yesterday for the first time in a month. And I probably drink it maybe once a week. If I need a caffeine boost I go for green or black tea.
A cup of green tea every day is said to have amazing health benefits. And caffeine isn't really toxic like benzos or alcohol is it? So I think once you experience 100% soberness of ANY chemical it might be a good idea to incorporate HEALTHY chemicals into your system.
You have to think as well: there's pharmaceuticals in tap water- so unless you're drinking 100% bottled water you're still getting exposed to things( albeit insignificant doses). There's also chemicals in the food that we eat unless you're 100% organic and know your source. Just some thoughts.
Really excited to hear about all this though Asante, as we both know there are many people on this website that have substance problems and you are blazing a path for all of us to show it can be done safely and effectively and lives could be saved because of that. Lord knows we don't need another addition to the RIP thread.
Shine on!

For 25 years I followed doctors orders to take one a day, every day. It didnt escalate, I always used it as a medication, not a recreational drug.
Yeah, if you have a great anxiety attack, a valium is just the ticket.
I had benzos in my possession pass expiration and thrown out.
I never was compulsive about them.
Still, if you take 1 dose a day, every day, for years, just like with alcohol, your personality and brain function deteriorates progressively, Thats going to take at least a year for much of that to reverse itself.
Its a GABA agonist, not the sort of thing you'd want to be in the habit of.
It dulls the finer inner workings of the mind. You get slower, you pack on pounds, you are less inspired, less creative, fantasy is diminished, you tend more towards passivity, you get memory issues, your fine motor skills are impaired... i think you get the idea
For 25 years I have become steadily less and less of me, because I took one pill a day.
I'm very curious whats on the other side of that year. A months long unintoxicated me is a different me.
I want to find out whats its like to be a sober adult in an intoxicated world.
If a trip needs trup, I'll trip it
If I get a colossal anxiety, valium to the rescue!
If I need to give it 110% physically, there's steroids.
What these three have in common is that one's a medicine for the spirit, the other for the mind and the other for the body, and I'd use them as a medicine.
But ideally, not at all anymore.

I'm so glad to hear that Asante, godspeed!
I've been getting interested in steroids lately, doesn't look like something to mess around with unless you 100% know what you're doing, how to cycle, how to control estrogens, post cycle therapy... It sounds like a mess and more of a hassle than just watching your diet and exercising regularly. And useless in the long run if you don't do that anyways.

I used them for a couple years. Wouldn't recommend, but hindsight is 20/20. No one could talk me out of them at the time... I am thankful for my health now. Got fucking huge, had terrible blood pressure and bad cardiovascular health. PM me if you questions.

Good Luck Asante... My big goal is just to have a Dry January, no bear or alcohol at all. So far it's easy peasy, but not like I had any issues with alcohol before, it's one of my least favorite drugs.

Asante said: The first six days of 5+50mg --> 2.5+25mg went so painless that as of tomorrow, I'll skip the schedule and go 0+0mg
So, as of tomorrow - drug free, both "dr00gz" and rx.
Wish me luck
Zero lucks given!
I was too brazen with my taper and it developed into a double withdraway syndrome.
I'm back on the longer taper now, it was too big a step to take.

I guess thats means No skipping!!
IT OK BUDDY. Can imagine it, Just like a marathon it gets harder near the finish line. Unlike Booze, I'm a pussy when it comes to nicotine, After a day, week then month, Relapsed on multiple occasions near the end line.
