Don't count your mush before it's harvested.
For oats I reccomend reading Bods tek to begin with. I personally fill a pot 2/5ish full of oats. Then fill to near full so that at full boil there is no spillage. Then crank on high till full boil. After a few minutes of boiling check for doneness. You want em soft and hydrated, but not too plumped and exploding everywhere. You're literally cooking grain sp don't overthink it and pay attention. You can adjust over time as you get the feel of things. Once hydrated strain. Once strained spread over screens to dry. The goal is the hydrated grains are no longer wet on the surface. Depending on methods and quantity this may take a few hours. Once dry to the touch load into jars 3/4 full and PC @18psi for 90min.

why can't people just be straight up and answer a question on this forum? really irritating, i obviously read his shit and he says use 1 - 1.25 cups per quart of spawn, yet others saying other ratios.

Forget these arbitrary numbers. Just make sure that you can shake the grain in the jar easily. To figure out yield you need to calculate mass, not volume.

Yes, there is roughly a 1:2 ratio of the dry to wet weight of the oats, but it will vary depending on your hydration/drying method. Many things can effect the yield though, so it's not wise to rely on any kind of BE based estimate of output as newer growers will often come up short and many vets can easily exceed 100%.

An oz per qt of spawn is the target, doesn't mean you'll achieve.Depending on genetics, environment, and experience, don't count on it.

LOL relax bro. he's not answering it, because it's a silly question. you haven't even turned on your burner yet, and you're trying to weigh nonexistent mushrooms.

This has been very helpful from the tek:
Quote:
Since weight is easier and more reliable I just weigh out 210-220 grams per quart jar or 180 grams if using them for g2g receiving jars as they need some extra room.
works perfectly for me every time. use weight instead of volume.

I just grow the mushroomz jk
Until you're graduating to bags I don't think worrying about such small measurements is wirth while. Get the material prepared properly by hand and then PC that shit. Next up, inoculation.
