Aren’t these just minimal changes while the investigation continued?

This videographer was down on the senate floor with the rioters. They were photographing documents. A cop came in and politely asked them to leave when they were done taking pictures.

Quote:
A skinny man in dark clothes told the officer, “This is so weird—like, you should be stopping us.”
The officer pointed at each person in the chamber: “One, two, three, four, five.” Then he pointed at himself: “One.” After Chansley had his photographs, the officer said, “Now that you’ve done that, can I get you guys to walk out of this room, please?”
“Yes, sir,” Chansley said. He stood up and took a step, but then stopped. Leaning his spear against the Vice-President’s desk, he found a pen and wrote something on a sheet of paper.
“I feel like you’re pushing the line,” the officer said.
Chansley ignored him. After he had set down the pen, I went behind the desk. Over a roll-call list of senators’ names, the Q Shaman had scrawled, “its only a matter of time / justice is coming!”

Do you have evidence that he fled? From what I can tell, he went home to texas and was arrested in texas. His court appearances will be in Texas. Where is the fleeing, exactly?

Very possibly, which is why I said he won't likely do time for those charges. Still, they can't hold him for things they think they might charge him with someday. We do still have an 8th Amendment until you lefties succeed in abolishing the constitution and all civil rights therewith.

Well, I figured it was the part about leaving the city where the crime occurred. Is that not fleeing? He certainly did not wait around in DC to be arrested.

Were charges filed before he left?

Not to my knowledge. Is that a requirement for fleeing?

Not sure, but how would one know if they were fleeing from the law?

First, he would have to be ordered to stay/appear before there's any flight. As far as I know, he was arrested and charged in Texas. He certainly hasn't been charged for fleeing or evading arrest.

So if someone commits a crime and then travels far away before the authorities figure out it was them, they weren't fleeing? Well ok.

They may have been fleeing, sure. If you stab your next door neighbor and then run off to borneo, you're probably fleeing. That makes you look like a flight risk. That's not enough to charge you for flight, of course, but it's enough to raise your bail or deny it altogether.
If, however, you visit yellowstone and stab some fool in the woods, then go back home, that's not flight. That's you going home like you were going to all along.
I know you understand the difference here, and you're trying to thread the needle to demonize this guy a little bit more. It's a fair rhetorical position, but it isn't really reflective of the reality in this case.

No, I had no idea of this distinction but I accept your explanation. I honestly would have expected leaving DC to be enough to prove flight risk.

He was indicted on felony charges, first of all. Second, he was deemed a flight risk and danger to the community. The minute order reads, in relevant part:
Quote:
Defendant ordered detained pending further proceedings as a serious flight risk, a serious risk of obstructing justice, and danger to the community.
Let's not forget that Jake Anjeli was armed.
Edit: I just read the government's brief, and it appears Anjeli said he would return for inauguration. I'm sure that's where the "danger to the community" part comes from. Also, there's a lot in there about his flight risk based on his mental health, drug problems, employment status and history, etc. That dude was apparently all fucked up (if you couldn't tell by the face paint and the horns.)

I don't want to get in the habit of saying Karl Rove has good ideas, but I always did say he was smart. At any rate Rove is saying that Trump's chances of being convicted of inciting the Capital riot is much greater if he retains Giuliani as his legal defense. Rudy has already stated that the defense is Trump was correct about the election being stolen. I'm no lawyer, and you never know what a jury might do, but I'm wondering if a judge would allow this defense.
While going out last night, I'm driving on I-55 in the Chicago burbs and there's a billboard saying "Capital Violence Tip Line" saying call this number if you have any information. I saw the same billboard on the internet, so I guess they up everywhere now.

It's been reported lately that Trump and Giuliani are on the outs though, that Trump is refusing to pay Giuliani or take his calls.

As I've said since day one in their relationship, I wouldn't piss off Rudy too much. He will rat Trump out if he has to.
