There goes Enlil claiming another semantics victory.
Ok it wasn't "ruled" a monopoly, but determined to be one by the House Antitrust Subcommittee. Better?

Do you got anything that "means something" more? Because a House Antitrust Subcommittee determination is a lot more than nothing.

I'm going to wait until those fact checkers get around to it.
They seem to have a more correctly aligned viewpoint.

Wait a minute, I'm a little confused now. So the House Antitrust Subcommittee means something significant? But the Senate Intelligence Committee on Russia, dominated by Republicans, you can dismiss?

I’m going to guess he means that it bears political significance, coming from the House committee.

Yes, it is. This is a discussion board, not a courtroom.
They wrote a report explaining exactly why Facebook has monopoly powers, and I'm sure their findings could be used as evidence if this went to court.

The difference is simple. One report has actual explains why Facebook has monopoly power, the other report simply says they want to investigate Trump to see if they can find anything. I said from the beginning it contained no evidence other than this is something Russia might do based on past behavior.

From what I remember, the article talked about about Facebook being so big that it can simply buy up competitors and put them out of business. But in cases where someone makes a Facebook or Twitter like service to cater to posts and users that Facebook/Twitter don't even want on their own services, is there really an incentive for the big guys to absorb such companies through acquisition?

No. But again, Facebook still fits the legal definition of monopoly.

But the context in which you brought this up was that this monopoly status implies that a ban from one of these big social media companies infringes on Trump's freedom of speech, correct?

You're right. Now THIS is the kind of intelligent discussion I wish I got from others, which is unfair of me because many users on a drug forum just aren't smart enough.
I tried to open a Parler account just now on my desktop browser and it said "Sign up not available". Does anyone know what's going on? I guess I'll Google it to see if I can find out...

I've given you the definition of monopoly, and a report explaining how they meet that definition.
Can you do any better than "nuh uh"?

I found an online community recently that might be your style for these kinds of discussions Fal: https://theconversation.com/was-it-a-coup-no-but-siege-on-us-capitol-was-the-election-violence-of-a-fragile-democracy-152803
I read recently that Parler's web presence is hosted by Amazon and that they've been given notice that they will be getting the boot. Which I think does lend credence to some of what you've been arguing, even if it doesn't technically qualify as an infringement of freedom of speech. Especially if it turns out to be the case that nobody will host them.
