The most simplest casing method?

100s of guides all 4 advanced user.
Whats the easiest way to case?
1. Dump colonised grain into sandwich box. 2. Cover sides with aluminium foil so no light gets in. 3. Sprinkle vermiculite with oyster shells on top. 4. Put in a humid environment and fruit.
Eh?

Honestly if you're having issues with casings, just use a pseudo casing of Coir/Verm. Same as your substrate, just add a layer of it thick enough to hold in moisture. Sure it'll get colonized eventually, but It's simple, and works well. If you want to do a proper casing you can use a combination of peat, verm, lime, gypsum. Or you could go simple again and just use hydrated Verm as a casing. EDIT: Also this depends on the kind of variety you're growing as well. Certain psilocybes needs specific casing/conditions.

So what im asking: put verm in the bottom, grain on top, verm on top, and it should work?

I'm at a loss here Gypsy Boy. I don't know the set up you're working with. If you don't plan on using substrate and just tossing your grain into a box, you should just put a casing layer ontop of it. But you want it to be able to hold moisture, which is why we use a coir/verm substrate with a peat/verm/lime casing.

Oh! Right, No don't be doing that, just use a casing layer on the top of your substrate. Doesn't need to be sandwiched or anything. Lemme get you an example pic.

Now this is a peat, verm, lime, gypsum casing. But the example is that you don't sandwich it. You can clearly see the myc and the casing layer. This casing layer is actually too thick tbh, and the psilocybe in there is ATL7.

Bucket tek that coir/verm and it'll be just as good as any casing for cubes.

yes that would work, but i would suggest adding coir (its 3 bucks for a brick) and verm to a bucket and mixing it with your grain then covering the top of the mix with a bit of left over material, cased grain is ok for a few mushrooms but the texture sucks with just grain and verm

No one uses peat anymore. You could add coir to verm to improve yields.

So we still havent gotten to the point of what Species or Variety of Mushroom Gypsy Boy is planning on growing here. You can use peat , lime and oyster shells if you have a Kit from someone up in the north west.

You should read some recent tek like this one that have good images and gifs.

A top layer of coir is all that you need for cubes.

If you have verm use it, but coir is all that you need if dont want to buy extra stuff.
