Pressure Cooker (PC) Maintenance
    #27126998 - 01/04/21 07:58 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Hey all,

Wondering what people do to maintain their PC's... I'm rocking a 23q Presto and just had to swap out the ring, weight, and gauge after 4/5 years of use.

Great tips I've been utilizing:
-Using vasaline on the ring
-Using some vinegar in the water
-Taping quarters to the weight

So some questions:
-What do you do to maintain your PC in the short term (before/after cycles), and the long term?
-How often do you remove the pressure gauge? How should it be cleaned? How to know when its on its way out?
-Have you ever had to replace the weight? (mine started coroding and flaking off bits)
-Do you clean off hard water deposits? If so, with what?
-Any other tips and tricks would be appreciated

Thanks!

One of them from the fleet has been running off & on since 2009.
Bags started sticking to the sides in 2016.
I now wrap the perimeter with non stick renolds wrap for bag runs.
If ya take care of them & dont run em dry + Dry them out between cycles they last a very long time.
