Hello everyone, my grain spawn bag has started pinning, is it still okay to mix in with sub and get into a monotub? Thanks for your help!

Is your grain spawn bag fully colonized?
Is this a kit with the sub on top and you mix it?
It is hard to say with out a picture. It is always better to have a substrate when growing from grain because of the added moisture content and the substrate will help your grain create a micro climate that will help the fruits fully develop.
It has been my experience that if you have pinning grain bags, there is a hidden contamination.

If it's 100% colonized and looking healthy, sure.
Pics help, you can upload pics to the site.

I may or may not have cut it out of its original bag and tried to get it to start pinnning, which it has only jus started doing. I only later read that there is absolutely no point in getting uncased grain to fruit, so I'm wondering if it's too late to break up the grain and mix it with the coir?

Bacteria laden in my opinion. That is what causes the mycelium to get all matted and mushed together. It is pinning in response to a contamination.
You can mix it in a substrate and probably get some fruits before the Green shows up.

If you have a private yard, give it a proper burial. Let nature decide it’s fate. Let contams fight contams and there’s a good chance the mycelium will emerge victorious.
Don’t forget a eulogy and gravestone. Maybe a skull for them to grow into.

I just thought I'd give a little update on this dodgy looking bag of grains. Turns out it was fine. Those big ones are 4" tall and 2" around.
