What’s up Shroomery?! I just wanted to ask you guys if anybody has every had success growing wood loving Psilocybes in Mississippi? Such as P. Cyanescens or Ovoids? And if so, how’s did you go about it? I’m wanting to give it a try but not sure if the environment in MS supports it!

I’ve seen it done in TN, a few hours from where I live. I understand that it won’t be optimal. Just wondered if anybody has had success. I wanna try some wood lovers.

I’m not in MS but am experimenting with an indoor tek with them. Basically made grain spawn using a popcorn tek. From there I soaked a bag of alder chips over night. Drained and pasteurized by cooking them in the oven covered in tin foil. In hindsight I think 2 hours at 180 F would have been ideal, but I kinda winged that part. Once it cooled I mixed it in a shoebox size clear tub and left it to colonize. I’m about 5 weeks out from there and it’s almost fully colonized with no contamination. It’s also some of the prettiest mycelium I’ve seen on the alder chips. The plan is to give it light and more fresh air once its colonized, and keep it at 50-60 degrees because Cyanecens fruit in colder weather. Based on what I’ve read I expect this will yield fruits, but if anyone has experience with these or other wood lovers I’d love to hear it! Good luck on your outdoor grow. I think these will do well in MS for you, but only one way to find out haha!

I think I may try an outdoor pan cyan grow like you’ve said. I can get my hands on an endless supply of hpoo (my GF rides and owns a horse barn) and supposedly they can be just as strong?! That shroom should grow wild here but it has eluded me.. alas. I may just try an outdoor and indoor grow with them.
