unknown cube wbs/straw

Hello everyone,
5 weeks ago i got a melmac sporeprint from a spore ring in Europe. Made a syringe, inoculated wbs and used it as spawn for straw.
This picture shows how this variety of melmac will look like once the fruits are grown.

This picture shows my tray. (wbs/straw) Only very few blobs without casing.

To me it looks somewhat different to the melmac i have seen here. What do you think?

Hi,
they are growing fast now.

My FC is a tub that has a 20W 12V aquarium heating cable submerged in 3 liters of water inside. On top of the cable is a wire cooling rack that holds the container. As substrate container i use a buffet server that is nearly as big as the tub. The sides of the tub have holes for FAE. Nothing for large scale operations but works nicely.

thank you faht.
im not sure if the substrate holds enough water for big mushrooms. i soaked the straw for 24h, not sure if 48h do better. used it without much rinsing. well lets see.

hey,
i need some help with the printing. some veils have broken and are a little bit dark/black, but there aren't any spores on the stems jet. should i wait longer before trying to take sporeprints or are they sterile?
the other thing is, this "melmac" isn't one and no pe. Just regular cubes that produce some blobs.

a few more prints then everything gets composted. the test run was okay, need more fae. next try in a couple of months will be some panaeolus.
wbs prep: measure wbs dry about 1/3 of jar, put in boiling water, simmer until expanded alot ~30-60 min, drain shortly, 90min pc. straw prep: measured dry in tray, soaked 24h, drained 5-10min, pasteurized 6h at 158F(70C) in the oven, let cool over night then used.
i layered the spawn and sub. put it directly in fruiting condition 1 week at 23,5°C and then at 21,5°C. Fruiting started after about 10 days.

I ve got the same spores and I am trying to grow them. They run so fucking fast really... like 2 quarts spawn bags in less than 10 days from ms. but it is really disappointing to know they re not melmac ...

anyways, did you let it consolidate? And how many days from spawning to FC?

Getting a spore print is your first clue, pe doesnt make prints very well. However a reverted mak will which is pretty common for that lineage and a major downside . I wish somebody would have just tossed that culture lol

sorry for the ignorance, but what would be a reverted mak?

It goes back to a more normal looking cube that drops spores

I hope my answer is not too late, sorry I wasn't aware. I put the straw directly in fruiting condition after spawning(layered spawn and straw) without any consolidation or incubation.
p.s. is there a way to get noticed when someone posts in your thread?

You spawned it and the temp was 23,5⁰C for one week + one more week 21,5⁰C + 10 days to fruit? Or did these guys started to show up in 10 days after straight FC? Like on the second week when they where at 21,5⁰C?

Yes, after about ten days straight FC they showed up. Changed the temperature after 7 days to have more clear fruiting conditions i assumed.
