Cactus tea help/advice

Ive tried making a tea from cactus from two different places without any luck and want to know if I did anything wrong or if the cactus wasn't good.this last tea I tried to make I used two 8 inch long 3+ inch wide cactus. I took the spines out, cut up in to sections, blended with equal amount of water, heat on really low setting highest I used was 3 not really boiled but enough to evaporate the water for 6+ hours stirring frequently, used a shirt to strain/squeeze the juice out. Could I not have used enough heat/does it need to reach a boil?

Probably didnt boil it hot enough. Mescaline is really tolerant to heat so crank it up! Just watch the water level really closely so you dont burn your tea! Add water when needed.

First make sure you have an active cactus. Do you have a picture?
Second, noone knows how active the cactus really is. There are SanPedros which blow your mind with 8 inches, others don't do anything after ingesting several feet. Young tipcuttings don't contain much mescaline. Fat, old middlecuts are usually more potent.
It's hit or miss.
Yeah, boil it for long. Mescaline is damn stable, you have to full-boil it for 8 to 12 hours, preferable you do several boils with fresh water each time, like three boils for 3 to 4 hours each time. Then collect all the liquid, reduce it and drink it.
Here's a writeup how to do it:

Either way works, just make sure to watch the water level closely.

Are you talking about making sure it doesn't boil over or make sure the water level doesn't get to low? I heard people mentioning it boiling over but even now using higher temps there is no frothy stuff boiling over.

Sorta both but mostly to make sure the water level doesnt get too low. I should also mention that an extra large pot should be used for the cactus-boiling process.

you most certainly do not have to boil it for several hours.
3x boils with fresh water, 15-30min each is totally sufficient. if what you made from that description was inactive it wasn’t the method, it was most likely the cactus.

Do I strain the tea when the water gets low for each of the three portions of water or do I add water to the previous water each time and strain at the end?

I just add more and strain/filter at the end.
I find 4-6 hours of boiling is the best for getting a proper extraction.
