The Mike Turner story (hiker trapped by a boulder in Wyoming's Wind River Range)

No, unlike the story of Aron Ralston, who infamously cut his arm off after being pinned by a boulder and living to tell about it -- there was no happy ending for Mike Turner.
He was solo hiking in a very remote, mountainous region of Wyoming. I stumbled upon this story recently and this read (from Outsider Magazine), is quite engrossing stuff. Turner, a pastor, was able to write in a journal that he had on his person during his estimated 7 day ordeal after being pinned by an 800 pound boulder, before ultimately perishing and then being discovered by another hiker a few days later.
I thought I'd share it here with you all.

Here's a picture of the region he was hiking in.

Crazy story. I've spent a decent amount of time in the Winds and once your up high and off route it can be pretty desolate. Couldn't imagine what he went through though it seemed like his faith game him some solice

That was a good read. Wonder if he jerked it one more time stuck there in those 10 days.

Partially related:
I met Aron Ralston one time at a wedding. As is common practice, I was sufficiently liquored up. At some point came the time for socialization, and eventually a friend introduced me to him. I knew who he was, knew the name, seen the movie, all of that. My dumb ass impulsively reached out to shake his hand. He gave me a once-over to make sure I wasn't being a dick and was indeed plastered, and shook my hand with his prosthetic. And then I obviously realized what had just happened; I have never felt so stupid in my life. He thought it was funny. Probably happened plenty of times before. Good dude, man, good dude.

This is an amazing tale. Such an eerie way to die. I quite often go on solo hikes. The further away from people the better.
If you or anyone know of any more true stories similar to this i would like to hear about them.
Thanks for posting this one niffla. Excellent campfire fodder.
