Unpopular opinions: I think that realistic violent computer games and violent movies in fact actively contribute to how shitty society is today.
Its NOT HEALTHY for an unhappy person to retreat to a fantasy world where hes a sniper graphically turning realistic people inside out with a Barrett .50 cal.
Also: modern parenting of overprotection and pathological coddling and meddling on one hand and being gone as a parent most of the time is child abuse driving your kids towards needing meds and shooting up their school.

Like I said I just like to try to understand. I think it's weird too. My son's seen Terminator I just skipped over the hanky panky he's seen a few things I'm sure some people would think is questionable. IMO it's all about knowing the kid. Some kids don't need violent shows, it will only do harm. Other kids can handle it as they are better tempered. I remember my dad would pass out watching all kinds of shit when I was a kid and I'm no worse off for it. I'm sure it didn't have any effect on me at all, and if any only minor curiosities. Maybe some lost sleep from watching Freddy Kreuger my most mentally damaging movie experience was probably Twister because my sister would torture me about it and get me all wound up every time a nasty storm came through. I think I was 6 when it came out(I'm almost 30)

Oh, Twister kinda fucked me up too, but because I grew up in hurricane land haha. I am 30, actually, but have no kids so I really appreciate your perspective.
So when movies like Twister can clearly have an effect on you and I, where I don't remember humans being particularly violent towards one another, what are movies with sexual things or just nudity doing to people?

Got any data on that early point? Any associations between the advent of violent video games and changes in mental health?
Also: that coddling shit is real. Safe space my ass. The Coddling of The American Mind by Haidt is a fucking great book i just listened to. It is about the detrimental effects that coddling has had on us. And it is not exclusive to America, at least I dont think so.

Coddling is like cuddling while "grooming" I take it? Not literal cuddling, but literal grooming in the sense of influence?
Also yeah, I don't agree with actual vience being tied to video games at all, pretty sure Asante plays a Second Life sim or something, not a great point of judgement for violent games (not judging you Asante, or your games, just don't quite see you're point of view)

To clarify this was not meant as an insult directed at anyone or any other opinion.
I was simply stating that I often hold the opinion that my dick should be in someone's mouth and as evidenced by the lack of sucking my dick receives this is an unpopular opinion.

i think this past year might have made this opinion slightly less unpopular, but teachers in the US are overpaid.
also the greedy farmer stereotype is true.

I think it depends where you live. I think the average here is something like $30-50k salary and they do take their work home with them. I won't completely defend them though, the kids were out of school most of last year and a chunk of this year and they are still getting PA/PD days and they want to do March Break still. No kid should have a week off at this point. Utter ridiculousness.

Teachers are definitely NOT underpaid. They don't typically get to write off the materials they purchase for classrooms which can be a few hundred per year in itself!
OK here's mine: the opioid crisis. People have their stories and yes, it's definitely sad, but weeping families always say the same thing when someone ODs on fentenyl: "it could happen to anybody!"
Uhhh, no, no it definitely can't. Anyone CHOOSING to ingest heroin is making a life-altering decision. It's like saying "anyone can fall off a mountain and die"...but I don't scale mountains because the risk doesn't seem worthwhile to me...just like opioids. The way they describe it, you'd swear opioids literally jimmied open the window to little Billy's room and murdered him in his sleep. The truth is, somewhere along the way they fucked up as parents and probably can't live with themselves for it. Especially if they had no idea.
I have more sympathy for people who suffer chronic pain and spiral out into prescription abuse, but the onus is still on the individual to understand what they're ingesting.

I agree with the teachers thing (who else gets the entire summer off) but i disagree with the fet thing. I got hooked from using laced "spice" products, never knew I took (analogues of) it until afterward. There are reports of it in fake xanax and blotter paper now. I saw a lot of "adulterated cannabis" reports on drugsdata. People are using that shit to try to hurt psychonauts.

I don't think $30-50k is correct for Ontario larry. More like $90k on average. (in CAD obviously)

I think we need to massively deploy nuclear power to bridge the gap until Fusion takes over.
Its preferable to have a few tons of highly radioactive waste to shoot into space to spewing out gigatons of CO2 and associated combustion gases.
1 kg uranium = 10,000 barrels of oil = 7.33 thousand tons of CO2

That seems like a lot. If that's true then I would say they are for sure overpaid..
